hi to all
glad to be in this forum
I have a 2002 lincoln ls
today I was replacing the ac air filter , however while I was doing that a bolt of
the cover of the ac filter fell under the hood .
here is a picture , it fell into the highlighted area , would that be a problem or
is it ok ?
I looked all over the place for it but couldn't find it

thanks in advance

should be fine as long as you didn't drop it into the intake its cool it will probably hit the ground while your driving!

it always a pain - but call me OCD - I never fire up the car without finding the part. I have seen them fall into the weirdest places - next to a pully on the belt, on top of the motor mount, ....etc

I'd make a decent effort to see if I can find where it ended up. But, most likely I would end up just saying screw-it.

I did a timing chain on an old Taurus years ago and when I was done I had one bolt left over. I spent about an hour trying to figure out where it went. Skip ahead 5 years and I still have the bolt in my toolbox, and the car was sold years ago.

Well according to my friends who are mechanics, the job isn't done right unless you have extra bolts and parts in the end.

thank you all for your replies.
I got tired of looking for it , so I started the car and drove .
thanks god nothing went wrong.
I think that parts are well protected with casings.

I hate loosing fasteners. It takes me a few days to get over it, but I'm not normal. I can still remember some of the the ones I've lost... Damn it.

I have three tools to recommend:

1. long reach magnet (like mentioned above)
2. long reach mirror
3. compressed air to blow the sucker around if not out
