Hello all..

Just bought an 03 LS v8 with the silver trim on dash and console. I am looking at this silver trim and it looks a bit dated. It has a few scratches here and there and looks somewhat dirty.

So my thoughts were to repaint the silver with some good automotive paint but have yet to find what color this is. It isnt really silver as it looks like it has a touch of pewter in it as well.

My other thoughts were to buy some trim overlay off ebay but not sure what others have done. I am not looking to go with the wood trim. I have seen some carbon fiber kit but not sure if that would look alright in it.

What are your thoughts?

i had to repaint a couple of my pieces when i first got the car, not a perfect match but darn close in color (i think the bigger difference is in the finish/glossiness)

its pretty much in need of being repainted but i can't decide what i want to do, i really don't like the silver, never really did, always felt like ford was trying to copy old ass sony TVs! really want to do a different color, but then i would have to paint all of the pieces (the only one that really concerns me is the climate control with where the LED lights shine through) maybe i'll get around to doing that this summer...

At first I thought you were referring to the carbon looking trim horizontally on the doors and along the dash. Now that I see your referring to the center console/climate control/radio area... I can agree. I personally like the look but mine is aged as well. Not sure what I want to do yet either.

I have been doing some research and come across Medium Satin Nickel as a possible color. Not sure if this really is the color though. Although, the color nickel doesn't surprise me since it doesn't look like a normal silver. I also need to fix my cup holder area. It has these cracks in the top layer. Almost like it had been painted at one time and the paint chipped. I will have to get some pictures taken and post.

I have a post here somewhere on what I used. It's a close match.....

I don't know if it's "dated" as much as it's flat out CHEAP! Geesh...If Lincoln's slogan is, "What a luxury car should be", then you would have thought (I did at least), that they would have used METAL, not cheap plastic! Especially for the price of these cars when they were new. It cheapens the car in a huge way...not even close to qualifying as "luxury".

Fortunately, I don't have any issues with mine at this point (knock on plastic :)), but if/when problems arise, it might be worth paying to get a professional fabrication job of sorts...ANYTHING to cover the plastic :) Even with wood/faux wood, some folks feel the need to touch it and even comment/ask about whether or not it is real wood, but if s/one were to reach out and touch the metal looking plastic, it even SOUNDS like plastic! They could have at least applied it over a solid surface so it wouldn't sound so hollow.

If you add an adhesive over the top, I think it will add some depth and dimension to it and lend itself to luxury more so than the stock, hollow sounding plastic, THAT'S for sure.

Oh, I almost forgot..."WELCOME"

......that they would have used METAL, not cheap plastic!

Other than the fact that EVERY OTHER manufacturer uses plastic for most of the interior parts, can you imagine just how HOT those pieces would get if they were metal?

I don't disagree with you, however...

The LS was in the "near luxury" segment. All the other cars in that segment (Lexus, BMW, ...) that I have been in have had just as much or more plastic.

??? I've got an Infiniti, and it has metal trim, not plastic.
