I am about to replace all my coils,, only have coil #2 out,, but figure best to do them all.

Question is, which should I get?

I plan to get some from Rockauto.com since they seem to be the cheapest.

I used factory Motorcraft coils. I just called up 5 Star and they made me a good deal on all 8.

how desperate are you, I'm trying to convince a company that makes the HD versions of other COP's to make ones for us

Did you go to the poll here and vote
www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=25051

The more votes the easier it will be to convince them that they can make some money on them and get them to make them

I saw that,, but u have only like 30 responces in like a week.

Chances are that company wont make a completely new product for us when only 30 ppl want it.

Also if the product works well, then there is no RE purchase,, so there is a one time purchase,, no money in that.

But hell if they do, i am in,, but i am in need now,,lol

Heck, if people like you that need the coils don't vote, then of course there is not going to be a lot of response (its over 46 now and thats only been since what wednesday).
So add your vote to the poll, it could easily have more to do with us getting HD coils than bothering to try and change who is going to be the next president.

umm last time i looked u had 17 posts,,lol and most of those are reposts same people,, so how u have 47 votes?

Out of the votes u have,, most of them wouldnt buy them anyway cause they have probably just spent alot money replacing theres allready.

Never said u was changin the pres,, but ur trying to do same stuff greyghost has been tryin to do, get more parts made for LS and the past year he hasnt had much luck, there is no demand. and 47 doesnt contitute demand,, you need more like few hundred to few thousand.

Even if u get 100 votes ur still talkin bout a product that has no resale value they make it they sell it to u once thats it. NO MONEY IN THAT

Im sure there r guys on here in manufactoring that can tell u the cost of reprogramming a machine to build a new part,, it isnt cheap.

In reality are the coils the problem? or is it the design of the engine?

Not tryin to be a d***,,just tellin u reality, BUT if u get them to make them than thats great. Good Luck

i think those do not come with boots for the coils.. and you should not use your old boots.... i didnt feel comfortable buying from him, there was some posts about him earlier on here

Well you can vote without making a post, look at the actual tally board at the top of the thread, not the number of posted comments. And so far out of 46 votes only three people want to stay with oem coils, yet they don't post any reasons why.

But if you read the questions, there are four choices for buying HD coils and only one no I want to stay with OEM.

I broke the "yes to HD coils" into four choices so that the companies can see how many are V8's vs V6's and how many have already had problems with the OEM coils.

Of course if people like you, John don't vote in the poll, then we have that many less votes to try and convince the companys to build coils for us.

But I'm sure you would be the first one to want to order some if I can get one of the companies to take a chance.

if you buy the coils from rockauto,,they do not come with boots either, from what i was told,, also been told that the boots are ok to be reused.

i'd buy new boots. I bought coils from dooney and boots from rockauto. I think the boots were like 3 bucks/ea. coils from dooney seem fine, other than mine didn't have oem stickers on them (except 1). However all the small markings on the coils were consistent w/oem units. Also, the springs stick out of the end of the boot about 1/2 inch. I assumed that's normal when they are new? anyhow they are working fine.

FWIW, I've purchased 3 of the Ford ~$30 coils from a dealer in Oklahoma a year ago. So far, I've replaced two of them. These are the old stock parts that originally came on the car... if they failed once... theys gonna fail again. Been there done that so it's time to get some coils made that won't fail. Otherwise, people will be bitching next year how the coils they've just replaced are failing.

"Hey, doesn't anyone make a heavy duty coil for the LS????"

Sieze the opportunity here folks.

Problem is,, is it really the coils that suck,, or is it how the LS engine is made to work?

and ur coils go bad, depends on alot, on hopw u drive,, if ur bangin ur car around like its a mustang,, than yes ur coils will go no matter whatthey are.

knock on wood,, i didnt have a coil issue untill 90,000 mile mark,, and thats cause i put 30,000 miles in 13 mnths drivint o work.

so if new ones last another 80,,i am good,,lol
