The radio in my '93 only works when it wants to. when it works its loud and fine. its completely stock. but when it doesn't it acts like its working but get no sound, and the cd player wont work either. ripped it out wires look fine, checked fuses seem fine, idk what it could be! any suggestions?

piss, alright i got a aftermarket deck anyways, i wanted to keep the stock deck and put in my audio stuff but i guess not! thanks laser

Save yourself a ton of headache and get an adapter harness to plug in the aftermarket deck. It will work OK with the stock amp and all. :)

alright, i saw the adapter harness at best buy! i am going to be putting a mono amp in there for my sub though. any suggestions on how I should wire it? i have some type of an idea but not really :p

okay thanks, i saw the adapter harness at best buy so i shall go pick one up! :D

ah okay thanks, pretty sure i saw those at best buy!

I think you can get it a Best Buy. :D

Just match the colors on the wire harness to the new deck. There will be a couple blue wires from the adaptor that go to the same blue wire on the deck though.
As for the sub, just get a 2 channel amp install kit and it will have all the correct stuff to hook it up. Make sure to get one thats rated for MORE power then the amp puts out.

Wow! Thats allot of system! I wanted to do something like that but needed to keep trunk space so I simplified it a bit.BTW, the two black wires running behind the seat are factory, all mine are hidden. :D
I love my sub too. If I decide to go all out then I will get two more of them and it would be a major ground ponder! :)

oh my those are nice, im gonna spend a good couple days wiring mine up so it is uber clean i dun want wiring hanging every where! and i didnt mean to triple post lol it kept deleting my posts so me being an idiot reposted and i guess it was just some type of delay so my bad sorry people!

Now some of you may wonder why I didnt put the sub next to the amp where it fits perfectly. The reason was cancelation. I would get a tremendous ammount bass when the trunk was open but almost none with it closed. I tried changing x-over points, reversing the phase, fire it straight up, fire it to the side.... just would not perform when the trunk was closed.
Back where the CD changer was made it sound perfect. I love how I can crank the hell out of it and have some bass in the car that will rattle your eyeballs but if everything is closed you can hardley hear it at all on the outside. :D

Bass is a weird thing. It has to be angled just right or the sound just isn't there. When I saw your trunk and where everything was placed, I knew exactly why because like you, I have installed many systems since I was 16 years old. Everything I know was self taught.

Yes, I know I have some wire showing and I do have OCD when it comes to wire showing but for what I have back there, I think it looks ok and plus, after spending 10 hours on everything, I was through worrying about wires showing. My main priority was to make sure I had none showing inside the car and I don't. Trunk space is something I don't need except for "AIR" lol. With the right type of songs, my moon roof will jump up and down a little and I know what you mean about the eye vibration. I can be at a red light and try my best to stare at it and I can't because it really does jiggle your eyes up and down but I rarely ever play the system. I just know if I ever want the sound, it's there.

I guess I could have put a daytime shot in and the red you see on the right hand side of the box is jumper cables in a zip up red bag. The main wire that bugs me is the ground wire on the left. I ran out and said piss on it. I can always add a longer one later but for now, it's not in my way. btw, I like the amp you have Laser. Been a while since I laid eyes on one of them.

Car looks sweet! Thats how that one I saw today looks inside, thats why I wana buy it so bad. :D

Thanks, I searched for that amp for a long time. I really wanted something that had a very high S/N ratio and could drive everything. I found that Xtant and it is a real 1st gen 3300c that was only $200 with a fresh rebuild on its whole power supply and forced cooling. I also like how it hides the wires under its case. Its funny cause the amp is big, people ask how much power and I say its rated at 300 cause thats what its rated for. Of course it has dual 50 amp fuses so you know it has way more then 300. Hell that amp was $1200 new!

Next year though I am gonna sell it and get a 5 channel JL 500/5 so I can have a better way to adjust my bass plus I want to use the DSP function on my deck and since the Xtant is only a 3 channel it dont work.

Gonna miss that noise gate though. I like a system to be dead silent between tracks and this amp is.

Just make sure when wiring you don't do the typical POS style with wires visible all over showing everyone that you are a blooming idiot ...

Oh .. hmmm may switch where I have my sub as I have noticed with the trunk open I have great bass but closed much different ...

Then again I'm not looking for a boomer just a balance of sound ... which is what I am getting ..

Thats why I am using the components I am, to have a nice balenced studio sound quality. The problem was certain songs I knew really well that I would listen for the deep bass frequencies or a certain growl at 50hz and it just was not happening. After I moved it I really had to turn it down, by 6db if I remember right.
95% of the cars out there like to have the subs fireing back. Some are not so much. The Jag 4 doors are like that as are the town cars and a few Benzes that have the sloping trunk. Just the wrong shape and the sound waves get reflected back out of phase below 80 hz and all the "feel" of the music goes away.
