Ok... I wasn't going to jump in this, but now I must.
I'm a moderator on Focaljet. I used to own a twilight blue Zx3, pictured below. One of the FIRST to put the mach1 chin spoiler on it, back in 2003. The silver SVT in the second picture was my good friend Ray's car which had a Vortech supercharger fabbed into it with all kinds of goodies that made it an AutoX monster.
I LOVED my focus... I dont care what ANY of you say, the car was magnificant to drive, it handled better than most cars Ive driven, and I would love to have it back after selling it. We know these cars arent made to go in straight lines, but put an LS on an AutoX course next to a focus and see who has the faster time. The two cars are made with different intent. luxury economy vs. sporty economy.
That said, I upgraded to my LS, and of course I LOVE it too. Keep in mind, the LS, just like the Focus, is an OWNERS car. A lot of disrespect flies around about both cars. LS owners couldnt get a mercedes, Focus owners couldnt get a euro hatch. It's all relative to the owner. I loved my focus and I bought it with INTENT. NOBODy else had one at the time around me, and I was the ONLY modded and built focus around, and it turned heads, wether for the better of the haters, I don't care. It's the same with LS'.
There is no reason to start a flame war. Both cars are respectible. If you guys think a modded SVT Focus can't take out an LS, you're sadly mistaken. I've been on Focus' that will tear the doors off of cars that you may think are fast. It's a car with a motor just like any other car, and with work, it can whatever you want it to be.
As for reliability, I can only speak for myself. I bought my focus new, drove it 60k miles and never had any sorts of problems with it, at all, even with all of the mods done to it. Focus' are NOTORIOUSLY reliable, with very few common mechanical issues. In the short time that I've owned my pre-owned LS, I've gotten more error codes and CEL's and Check Tranny warnings than I can count on both hands, and no, that's not current driver error. Perhaps previous driver error, but who knows for sure.
The bottom line is, they are two totally different cars, not even in the same classification, so what is the point of the flaming. This whole thing is FAILworthy. Of course people are going to bash the LS when they see some dude trying to look cool with focus lights on the car, and of course you're going to bash back, we only bash because Hell, we didnt think it flows right. The focus headlights are a unique shape, and they also come in HID, so it was funny to see a stock grey housing on an LS. It's almost hilarious that some people are getting so worked up over people on FocalJet NOT LIKING it, because 90% of LVC didnt like the car anways!
But don't let the one dude with focus lights on his LS make :q:q:q:q hectic between two very good, active car communities. I've said this on FJ as well, and it's been made very clear that there will be NO HOSTILITY towards ANYBODY from LVC on FJ. We would kindly appreciate the same respect back from the members of LVC.
