I started off with four brand new tires, jag str wheels with spacers up front, eibach springs and an alignment. Now after about 30,000 miles I am changing wheels. When I took the wheels off I noticed both right front and rear wheels have more thread wear than the lefts. The front right wheel is also really worn on the outter part of the tire. I have no idea what this is from. I have new wheels and tires on now and I am trying to get even wear from the tires. I noticed that when I put the spacers on, I have a shimmy in the steering wheel. I think that one of the spacers must be bent which could have caused the excessive wear on the old front tire. I will be getting an alignment check this week but it should be ok. I am also thinking a loose lower ball joint could be causing this issue. I will check them tomorrow. Idk, im just kinda pissed about the uneven wear.

Did you ever rotate them? Also the odd wear could be due to the fact that you can't align the rear of the LS. With the lowering kit is does throw the rear alignment off.

I never rotated them because they were staggard and rotational. I know the rears can't be perfect. The left rear still had more thread than the right. Could it have something to do with the diff?

This may seem like a dumb post, but an easy way to check if it's ball joint or tie rod end... jack up that side of the car. put your hands at 12 and 6 and try to wiggle the wheel back and forth. If it moves, it's the ball joint. For the outer tie rod, same procedure, but put your hands at 9 and 3.

That's no explanation for the back though. Was it even wear on the tire, just the entire surface wore faster than the other othe side of the vehicle?

i have never done an alignment on an ls but some times it could be that there was not enough adjustment to get the tire straight up and down. It may have benn pulled in enough to keep it from pulling and normally if its at the outer fringe of the specs it still shows green but barely if it could be rotated it wont show up for a long time and we let them go that way as its all that can be done but since yours cant be rotated it showed up alot faster then it normally would. also not being able to rotate wears the outside of the tires and it makes it look like its out of alignment too. I have stagered sizes on my mark and the outsides of the fronts are looking more worn but as it gets checked when we are bored at work i know its not an alignment thing just not rotated.
