The previous owner of my car scratched up all my silver pieces around the center console and I finally had enough of looking at it.

I took all the plastic pieces off surrounding the shifter, my nav, the climate control, vents, and ashtray. I cleaned them all off with alcohol and sprayed them a similar silver color as was there.

I used silver Krylon Fusion Metallic Shimmer spray paint. The climate control was the hardest as I had to take the board out of the back and then mask all the buttons off with blue painters tape and used an exacto knife to cut out the excess tape.

I also dyed the carpeting a charcoal grey, my car came with the very light grey carpeting and I didnt like it to begin with so it was a cheap mod to do with 2 bottles of carpet dye.

What do you think?

Nice job!

Can’t tell from photo; did you dye the door carpet kick panel also?

Does the dye color the carpet evenly?

mine is all scratched up too , i think thats going to be my next project , btw did you have to ligtly sand or just clean them up? , does the texture feels like it was painted?

Looks good. Did you take the seats out? That darn 'previous owner'. I think we all know who it really was, let's be serious.

Thanks! Yes the kick panels are dyed the same color as well, the dye is very even because its mixed with water and then scrubbed into the carpet with a brush.

Looks great. We must have had the same previous owner because mine is rather scratched up too ;) I just might have to copy you here.

More pics!:D :D

Sorry I just cant tell that anything is done.
COOL!

I just used alcohol to clean them, no sanding at all.

The texture feels just like the stock panels did. It all looks brand new now.

Yes I took the seats out too just to get it all uniform. It was me, Im guilty ;)

That is exactly what I was going for. Trying to match up as close as possible to the stock look, my panels were scratched up pretty good. Now they look stock and brand spankin new.

Looks good. One of those things I plan on to match the outside of the car......if I keep it. :D

Thanks, I could have used any color but silver matches my exterior so I kept it silver. Im in the same boat about getting rid of this car, but the value is so low that I would rather just keep it for now.

It looks really good. Is the trim that runs above the glove box the new color? Im not sure if its the lighting but it looks a little darker. IMHO I would do all the silver trim the same. How hard is it to dye the carpet? did you take out the fron seats? I have a similar color in my car andwas thinking about going to lincoln and getting new floor plan carpet but going darker but I knew I woulnt want to pay what Lincoln wanted for it.

He said he took out the seats to have it all uniform. By the way it looks just like stock. Awesome color match.

Now that I look at it a little closer, it seems like the edges around the carpet appear a little lighter. Maybe it's just the pictures, but did you have any problem covering the whole carpet? If so I'd suggest using duct tape to pull the carpet fibers down and get in the roots of the edges.

Its the lighting in the picture, it all looks the same color in person. I recommend to use 4-4oz bottles of the dye to get the carpet REALLY good.

This carpet before was just as light as the seats. Its a big change and still looks stock.

You do not have to take the seats out, Im just picky. You can pretty much get the entire carpeting by moving the seat all the way forward then all the way back and getting into every crease.

I wanted to replace the entire carpet too, but it was in the $700 range. This took about $30 worth of carpet dye.

The trim around the glove box was left alone. The same piece/color runs by the steering wheel and on the doors too, Its the factory carbon fiber look that is stock.

Amazing with relative little $$$, sweat equity with an eye to detail, a modest change make a big difference.

Now of course there is under the hood and the trunk.:D

Again, good job!
