So I changed my cabin air filter and my intake air filter with my step son today. When changing the intake air filter, I pulled off the actual airbox and my son said "Is it supposed to be wet there?".

I soaked it up with a towel but sure enough that was oil. So who wants to be the first to tell me the bad news?

It's from the PCV system. It's not unusual to have some oil sitting in the bottom of the intake manifold, but I've never seen the intake duct that wet. It seemly likely that either you have excessive blow-by (worn rings) or one of the PCV hoses is broken/split/detached/clogged on the suction side of the system.

Take the oil fill cap off and start the engine. Put your hand over the fill tube. Do you have light suction on your hand? No airflow? Or puffs of air hitting your hand? Repeat with some one revving the engine to 2500 RPM.

My car is currently waiting for oil, had to eat quick my wife called me in. I'll fill her up with the Mobil 1 and do that test for you. I do know that the neck to this hose is broken and has been for a while. But it seems that the breakage is still above the O-ring seal. Could this likely be the culprit?

Oh and thanks for the quick reply

Oh and I'll also add that the oil filler neck has some play to it. I can wobble it a little, is that normal?

Well, that's not helping for sure, and it really should be fixed. However, it's probably not the only (or even the main) cause. The PCV suction hose is the small one between the passenger side valve cover (near the front) and the top of the intake after the throttle.

Yes. it's normal for the filler tube to have some play.
