I can get a really good deal on one, but the guy didn't know if the Mark he bought it for had trac assist or not, so it's a hit or miss. Is the W3Z2 worth it? I currently have the Z4HO, or maybe it was the DZA1, have to go check again, keep forgetting.

the w3z2 is worth it over the z4ho or dza1, but i couldn't tell much difference over my w3z3.
except for the removed limiter. the z2 is supposed to be non speed limited, but mine was limited. weird.

but anyway, if you plan on getting gears or anything major done to your car, i would save your money and get a chip.

I had a z4ho in my mark and I switched to a w3z2. The first thing I notice my car shifted better and it had little more get up n go. I think it was worth it but I think I only paid 25 bucks for mine.

I wish I still had my Z4H0 from my old Mark. Maybe it was chipped or something, but it performed a hell of a lot better than my W3Z2. Got better mileage too.

Hmm, thought the Z2 worked with trac assist, only if the car it was in, had it. Now if the car that had the Z2 in it, didn't have trac assist, and your car did, it wouldn't work from what I understand.

I know what you mean .. the Z4H0 in my 94 stock ran a 14.6 quarter ... everyone who drove my 94 (Ray Urso, Marked8, 94m5, JD, etc....) said it pulled better than any stock mark they have been in. So I wonder what is the big diff from the W3Z2 to the Z4HO ... in the beginning of LvC many claimed that the 93s with the W3Z2 and the 94s which from what I know all had the Z4HO were about equal, with some claiming that the 94s were faster? Don't know ... but anyway ... I know both are better than my 95. LOL

Well, I am torn apart on what to do then! I have a 94, and I just checked what I had, it's a Z4HO. I guess I will just leave it there and not bother spending any money on a Z2. :shifty:

did any W3Z2 ecu's have traction assist? I've never checked my '93... which has traction assist.

I have a z2 and trac assist. Works fine but if you get one that had it
And your car does not it will not work.

Well, from what fastmark1993 said, I believe they did. Trac assist was an option, and I think it was a very popular one to, but don't take my word for it.

i also have a z2 in a traction control car.
but my abs is broke, so idk if the trac control actually works or not.

I still have my z4ho if you or anybody wants it. I will sell it cheap.

FWIW, my '93 has the W3Z2 and traction control.

+1

I have an early-production '93 parts car (has the dimpled intake tube) that came loaded with options: hands-free phone, JBL Audio, sunroof, etc., and it came with traction control and has the W3Z2 ECU as well.

Since we're on the topic of computers, were almost all 93's W3Z3's or have I just somehow had alot of them by luck of the draw? My black '93 I used to have, and 2 out of my 3 parts cars (obviously, the 3rd one having the W3Z2) have all had the W3Z3 ECU in them.

While we're talking about it, has anyone noticed anything funny regarding speed limiters on factory-tuned Mark VIII's?

As I said, my 93 had the W3Z3, which from what I understand, is supposed to have a speed limiter, but I had that car up to some high speeds (up to and beyond the end of the 140-MPH speedometer on several occasions), and it had no chips on it as far as I ever knew. Another time, I was driving a 96 LSC, and hit a speed limiter somewhere around 120-125. I stayed in the gas, and it bounced off the limiter twice I think, then just started accelerating back up to 130 again like there was no speed limiter. Anybody have anything similar to this ever happen to them?

nothing like that, but i have a speed limited w3z2, which isn't supposed to be limited.

Never took my 93's to their limit but my first 93 with W3Z2 I had up to 135 and it was still climbing but guy who was with me asked to back off.

My Z4H0 limiter was at 120 and it hit it hard. Car would fly to 120 and then just stop at it.

My Z4HO topped at 115! After I got her fixed up, topped her out at 115, kept looking down to see if she was going anywhere, but she just stayed at 115. :shifty: Hmm, on second thought, maybe it was 120, speedo may have been off a tad.

Actually I remember the '93 being speed limited after I went with 4.10 gears before it had a chip.

Now, my speed limiter is usually in the passenger seat. LOL :D
