Hey all, I have been wanting to install an aftermarket alarm with remote start ever since I got my car. Now that it is below 30 here I am wanting to get it done asap. I am looking to see if anyone has a system now and how I could get a wiring diagram for the install. And will it interfere with the factory alarm? I don't know too much about installing alarms but I learn pretty quick. Any advise is much appreciated. Thanks!!

Honestly, I would take it and have it installed. That's just me though. I can do some wiring on all kinds of things but with something like that, I personally would have mine done by a shop. I would make sure their installation was warrantied but if you didn't buy it from them, then they might not even mess with it period. I have been thinking of getting the same setup but also where it will roll up the windows for me too and flash the parking lights, not the headlights and electric start. Just not on the priority list as of now because it rarely leaves the garage. It's just one of those "I want" things but really don't need.

I'm sure someone on here can come up with a diagram but you can also check 12volt.com and get a lot of info there.

Yea, having someone else do it would be ideal but they charge around $200 for the install only, which seems a little high to me

How many local shops do you have to choose from? $200 is a bit steep just for an alarm install. I would check a few others but respected installers. You might find one for $125 and to me, I feel like that's a fair install price. Seriously though, they do this everyday and they know what they're doing.

Good luck with it. If you give it a shot, take some pics and try to do a easy short write up.

Ill look around some more. That diagram is exactly what i was hoping to find tho! Thanks so much for that!

Looking at the Viper 5301. Found some pretty cheap. Just looking for anyone that had any idea on if it will interfere with the factory alarm now. Install seems like a good Saturday project.

No problem. 12volt.com has always helped me out and not just with the Mark. If determined enough and having the right info to go by, you'll get it done yourself and yeah, I'd be on it quick before the cold sets in.

I'm still using the factory alarm but the only thing I have changed is unhooking the factory horns and removing them completely and then installing a 147db siren and it is extremely loud. When I press my horn, the siren sounds off and it gets attention. Way more than the factory horns ever would have. The siren is inside the front bumper cover and mounted very securely and it faces directly downward, through the holes on the bottom and echos off the concrete. It really is loud.

There is a wiring harness that plug into the big wiring harness in the steering column. Makes adding remote start a piece of cake.
As far as the alarm, that will take more work.
The rolling of windows is something you can do with a dei box and trigger wires. I have the set up in my sunroof. Just put power to the trigger and it will open or close. You can do the same with the windows. It also will also auto up and auto down.

I'm looking at getting a Compustar alarm for my 97. My buddy told me an awesome site is sonicelectronix.com

I would leave the alarm installs to the professionals. It isn''t just find the wiring diagram and that's it. DEI alarms are more sofisticated, and there are additional programming that would need to be done that they have hand programmers to do it with.

I have done thousands of alarm/remote starts and can still do them is short order. The last year I ran a shop myself and 4 other installers did over 1600 October - February. Personally I would rather pay someone to do it..lol
Part of that install price is the fact they insured and warranty their work, at least the good shops are and do.
This time of year the good shops are starting to get back up on their days out for appointments, if you can get right in for an appointment that might be a sign to look someplace else.
