I'm having problems with the vents on my 2000 LS-V8. I changed the degas bottle which fixed the overheating and no heat problems. Now, even though the fan runs and I can feel the heat, no air is coming from the vents. Not even changing the settings on the climate control solves the problem. I am in northern Illinois and it is 8 degrees. I'm thinking the vent doors are stuck. Are they run on vacuum? Thanks in advance for your help.

The vent doors are all electric. Do a search here for how to start the self diagnostics on the climate control for the gen I LS.

BTW, Google seems to have the whole site indexed, and Google's search is much much better than this site's own search.

I performed the diagnostic test and all vf segments were lit...meaning no faults detected. What is my next move? Is it the actuators?

Did you check for a clogged air filter? What happens when you press the recirculate button?

joegr,

I changed the cabin filter and lo and behold I have airflow coming from the vents. Fortunately it was something pretty simple. Unfortunately, I tend to look for the more complex rather than the simple especially with the LS. Maybe I should change my train of thought. Thanks again. BTW, I had a good friend of mine move to Gulfport a long time ago. His father worked for Belvedere Products. Are you familiar with the company and are they still there?

I am not. I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

I have just a lil air coming out of my vents with no filter installed... Any ideas? And yes I did search my arse off

self diag test shows 12 - 53 , 12 - 62 , and 12 - 64 codes... off to the search engine!

^^ Thanks dude! 2000 LS8. defrost motor makes sense, since theres a condensation fog spot on passenger side on winshield after 20 minutes of running a/c. More tinkering to do! Cant wait till a/c blows strong again.
