I need a VC Gasket by Thursday the latest, I'm getting my cars driver side coils and plugs changed, and I need a VCG. I will check out OReilly and them, but does the Motorcraft part still turn to :q:q:q:q after 100k? or did they fix the part during the 2nd gen? Im assuming of course its the same gasket as the 2nd gen motors...

I'll be calling around tomorrow between classes.
 
I guess that wasnt really much a question as a statement. But does anyone know the best place to get a VCG is locally?

North Country just a few miles away has them in stock with o rings for $65...

Im going to stop by and make sure it has all EIGHT o rings. 4 Small and 4 Large. If its there, then were in business.

Also, good luck trying to find them anywhere else. NAPA, Oreilley, and Autozone dont carry them... shame really. At least Its Motorcraft parts though eh?

Eckhoff (???) Coils, NGK Platinum Plugs, MC Gasket, Total will be around $250 for Drivers side... Pics hopefully, Start work on Thursday probably.
 
man you can order them from Team Ford or Maxx and get them for like $45
 
and to your other question - the new gaskets have been redesigned to prevent future leaks.

Well if you would have ordered them today from Team Ford.. Pat from the parts department would have had them in the mail today which would have put them to you by wednesday. Order them first thing in the morning.

Well I just did a VCG replacement on a friends' LS and pat from Team Ford got them to me within 2 days and I only paid $45 a side shipped to my door
 
Well its a good thing I went in and talked to the service guys before I bought the damned thing. I found out that ALL Ford motors have cylinders numbered...

I almost bought the wrong damned VCG :( Good thing they had both in stock :D Got my PASSENGER side VCG for $70.11 shipped from the guy to my hands lol.
 
Yeah, I was planning on doing it tomorrow night but work f*cked me over and changed the schedule on monday... So probably this labor day we will be doing labor.... fail.
 
FINALLY Got to do my VCG, Coils, and Plugs today.

NAPA Echlin Coils - 4 @ $43.99 (Lifetime Warranty) :D
NGK G-Power Platinum Plugs - 4 @ ~$2.75
RH Side VCG With O-Rings - 1 @ $71 with tax.

Total time about 1.5 Hours.

For those of you scared to do this yourself. DONT BE! I's SOOOOO much easier than people make it out to be!

As for a list of tools all you need is a 1/4" ratchet set, a 12" extension, and a swivel joint to get in at angles. All but 2 or 3 bolts are 7mm

I will create a write up when I do the LH Side later this year probably. We (Uncle and I) Set aside 4 hours to do this today, and took us 2, with a lunch break for 30 mins. Trickiest part is back side spark plug.

DO NOT PAY YOUR DEALER TO DO THIS EASY JOB!!!!
 
the driver's side is a little more cumbersome - with the brake booster in the way, and a few more things to disconnect/remove.
 
I was sure the passenger side is the hard one. Either way, as long as you have that swivel it makes life 100x easier.

WRONG!!! The passenger side is really easy and can be done in under a hour. Like Quik said, the driver's side takes a lot longer because you have to take off so many other things and the back bolt on the bottom of that side is a pain unless you have a 7 mm swivel bit. The damn brake booster is right there in your way.
