I cant find anything about the Chips (SCT, XCAL, etc...) for our cars. Can yall help me out, on where to get them, approximately how much they increase power, about how much they cost and any pros and cons, Or even where to find the cpu code if its necessary for an 04?

I have the KKM intake custom exhaust and the Sprint springs and i want to keep going with modifications.

maybe when i get back from Afganistan i will try to turbo it,

just a thaught.

Hard to believe you can’t find anything about Chips (SCT, XCAL, etc...). Do a search on any of the words and you find a wealth of information.

Right on top of the main page for the Lincoln LS are two sticky thread with an ongoing discussions on supercharges and turbochargers.

The PTEC PCM that is in these vehicles cannot be "chipped" but it can be flashed through the OBD-II port with an Xcal1, 2, 3, or Livewire. There are a few of us who custom tune the Lincoln LS's. I have tuned a few people on here and other sites with LS's as well as tuning various other vehicles as well.

Your best bet is to just but the Xcal and have it shipped to you from your tuner. Hook the Xcal up to your car. Read your strategy and send that alphanumeric code to whomever you decide to have tune your car. Whomever tunes your car will do the rest. There will be a few key questions that whomever you have tune your car should ask you. Some of which include what kind of firmness in the shifts are you looking for? What octane of fuel do you plan to run and what is commonly available where you live? What mods do you already have? What mods may you plan to get? and so on... The very last question I ask my customers not necessarily for the purpose of developing that particular tune for the person, but the answer will assist me when I may give them guidance to reach their goals for the future.

I hope this helped. If you need any further help feel free to post it or PM.

I just went to fastpartsnetwork to locate xcal 2 for styledyversatyle and could only find xcal 3, which claimed to be for 2000-2006 Lincoln LS V8 only. Does anyone know if that's a typo or if its true?

It does work on both V6 or V8 - it is based on the PCM code - so as long as SCT has the base code as part of their reversed engineered code base - you are good to go.

Torrie (fastpartsnetwork) can look up your code by using you VIN and tell you if SCT has your PCM code.

Thanks Quik, I thought that must've been a typo of some sort.

The X3 is available but there are some bugs with it. For your purposes the Xcal2 will do the exact same thing and is already very proven. I suggest that no matter who you buy from just get an Xcal2 for now. If you are willing to wait a few months till SCT has more of the bugs worked out then the X3 may be reliable enough to be a good option.
