ok i had installed this system in my car. well it consist of:
2 12 w7
2 1000/1
2 sets of 5x7 xr
300/4
eclipse avn6600
power acoustic 8 inch headrest
2 yellow top optimas
1 batcap
1 battery isolator
200 amp alternator


ok when i got this system all installed, the guys had killed my battery while they were installing it. so then they had turned the car on and i guess it was to dead so it put a lot of strain on the alt so it blew the regulator on the alt. so i had gotten the alt regulator fixed they put a new one in. so im driving and now i get a battery and a check charging system error code. and then this morning i had started my car up with my remote start and then i went out to my car and it was running so i thought everything was ok. so i put the key in and then turned it to ignition or acc whatever then i mashed the brake and the car died. so i try to start it again and then it wouldnt start. so i called the place up to see did they install everything as far as ground and power wire they said they did but they will check again. so i towed it to the alt place and he said something was draining my system while its off. so i said how when i was driving and i got the battery error and then he said maybe when they blew it it also blew the diode or something of that matter can someone help me please. i dont know if its the cables in the back or the alternator.

I would first disconnect everything they installed. Next I would have the code cleared, battery checked and alternator checked. If this fixes your problem, kick some one in the balls. next, check all your wiring, to your alternator and battery. ensure everything is tight and in the correct locations.

Make sure they have the batteries connected correctly. Make sure your main power is coming from the battery that is most inline with your alternator. Might even want to drop down to one battery while testing.

ok i would do that i have a batcap 400 is that necessary to have i just bought it because the audio shop said i needed it. i thought it was like a cap but im reading on it and a lot of people is calling it a battery. could that be the problem is its making my alternator work harder or it might be draining my batteries when my car is off.

hey could over draw of like batteries blow my alternator? like all my batteries being hooked up and fully charged can it blow my alternator?

alot of times when you run multiple batteries this happens. you said you have an isolator right? it could be bad. did they upgrade all the charging wire on the car when they added the new alt? need at least 2 gauge. could be the alarm if it remote starts but shuts off when you hit the brake and wont start back up. that happens alot with newer cars when guys hook up alarms.

where did they find a 200amp alternator? first I ever heard of one that drops in the LS.

i got it from motorcityreman.com it drops right in. but it failed me i dont know why so i put a new alternator made from my local shop and it had better parts in it. and it makes my system sound wayyyyyy better. i guess my amps are getting the proper voltage. and he said that there is no drain he said when the shop blew the alt at first it also fried some pins or something.

hey you guys i got a brand new alt rebuilt at 200 amps and it solved my problem. im getting 12.4 volts when the car is off and 14 volts when its started with no drain. so i think its ok.

I bet your system is loud ad fu<k. Hope you dynamated everything. I bet your roof looks like it going to cave in. Nice job on the install, I saw the pics.

I hope you didn't pay that much for that install.... 2 yellow tops AND a battcap???? Overkill and a half. Those w7's are amazing by the way, good choice on that, but you should probably get rid of the isolater, use one yellow top and the battcap, you should be fine with just that, if not you can always add the 2nd one since you have the hardware.

well i already added it. what do you mean by overkill? yeah it cost me like 3 grand and thats including the power acoustik monitors. so it was like 2 grand for the install.
