Hey guys, I am wanting to upgrade the halogen bulbs in my 03 LS. It does have that factory low beam HID headlights. The fog lights look really yellowish compared to the low beams and it just doesnt look very good. I was wondering what you guys reccomend for bulbs for my high beams and fog lights? I'm not sure what all is involved in switching them over to HID and I'm not sure I want to do that as the car is really clean and I would hate to start hacking into the wiring. I have been looking at the GE Night Hawks and those new Silverstar ZXE's. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

go with plug-n-play HIDs for the fog lights - specifically 5000k or 6000k to match the factory HID low beams... that is really the only option to match the low beams.

Its a really simple install, no cutting required... plug the oem pigtail into the HID ballast...the ballast plugs into the bulb, which gets inserted into the foglight housing.

Silverstars are a waste of money...took me two sets of burnt out silverstars to go with HIDs (only lasted about 6months each set)...the Silverstars cost about $30-40 a set...a HID kit costs $40+shipping from ddmtuning.com...you do the math.

Had the HIDs in for almost three yrs with no problems in my '02 before she was totaled about a month ago (low beam and foglights had 4500k, never got pulled over).

Leve the high-beams stock....you will never really need to use them for long periods of time again :)

You can do LED fogs for a near perfect color match but they dont project much forward.

Hoens are very good and the best looking halogen bulbs that ive found. I also have the oem hid lows and my fogs
from vleds are a very good match. Also getting new fog housings makes them even brighter.

You havent seen the hoen high beams have you? They look damn good almost like HID's.

You know, that HID kit does look like a good deal. I was thinking maybe I should do that for the fogs and then leave the high beams as halogen. I was just thinking that HID highs might not be the best because when you switch to your high beams you would have to wait that 5-10 seconds for HID's to work properly. Did you leave your stock low beam bulbs in, or is it worth upgrading those as well while I'm at it with the fogs? Also, where did you mount your ballast for the fogs?

I will take a look at those hoens for my high beams.

...well ill take your word for it because ive never seen them :D ...after the HID upgrade i think the only time i used the highbeams was to "flash" someone to go at a stop sign or something lol

+1 ..def not a good idea to use them for the highbeams because it defeats the purpose like you said (you have to wait 5 seconds for them to warm up). I mounted the fog light ballast on the side of the frame that functions as the bottom radiator support, i used zip ties.

It sounds to me like the perfect solution for you is HID foglights and Hoen high beams :D

Good suggestions, I think ill be taking the same route. I have the factory hids., but I don't even turn on the fogs because they're ugly lol. I wasn't aware there were different foglight housings tho. Were you referring to the LSE grill, or are.there other options?

I have DDM tuning 4500k slim Kit in my fogs as you can see in my signature. It's a perfect match to my factory low beam HIDs.

If you don't want to mess around with HIDs, i recommend HOENs. I have got them in my Navigator and they are a good match. Not as crisp as the HID, but close enough.

There are round fogs on the LSE/06 and a different round fog for gen I LSE. The rest are all the same.
