Universal Angel Eye kit for $49

Dunno if it is worth opening up the lights and installing etc for something cheap.

Might as well do it right if you're going to go through the trouble of installing them.

I've asked the same question. The answer that I received was that 'why put a cheap kit in it and in a couple of months, when the rings burn out, you will have to rip it apart again'.

EDIT: Damn you!! ^^ Beat me to it.. :p

So, they are cheap quality and not worth installing? I do we know that they won't last very long? Just askin'

CCFL is a type of light that is known for temporary use and often failure. Especially in the extreme conditions of outdoor weather.

How is the LightWurkz CCFL ones better then? Because they are around 125 and the LED ones are 199.. Should anyone who is buying angel eyes buy the LED kit?

So, they are just trying to get me to think that they are better then or equal to LED's?

Yes, why would they not?

Everyone is trying to make a buck these days, you have to know the product, not the ad.

GO WITH LED angel eyes, you will NOT regret it or be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for stealing the thread here but do the leds give a more clean look compared to CCFL? From the looks of it, CCFL eyes light up the whole reflector bowl and the led ones don't.. Are they just as bright or brighter?

Never heard that before. I have been running CCFL for 4 years and they work great. If you search past threads about angel eyes it is actually the LED rings that are discussed as temporary and need to be replaced. Not sure if current LEDs have been improved like the ones in your car but CCFL has always worked for many people on this forum. My CCFL rings are a little different than the ones advertised on that web site though.

Never heard that before..

really, there have been many people here complaining that they keep having to tear apart their headlights to replace either the ring or the transformer.
hell ive even laughed at a few cardomain cars that have had a picture with one or more rings out.

if you have a 1st gen, it really doesnt matter sine the lights can be opened up super easy, however if you have a 2nd gen, opening up the lights are a pain in the a$$ and you only want to do that once so get the LED's

i however never heard of the LEDs being temporary, as LED's are know for there long lifetimes

Maybe so then, I got my CCFL angel eyes from Ken Garrison at LSKoncepts when he used to sell them and they were a reputable product. I know there are different classes of CCFL so I would not trust ebay for under $100. I think the LED technology must have changed over time because I do recall LED angel eyes being a dimmer light and people having issues as I am sure with CCFLs also. The LEDs that I see in Audi's today or Andrizzle and Alax's cars look superb and uncomparable to what I remember.

yea the new led rings are incredibly bright, and look to be of good quality, probably the same with CCFL, some are better than others.

LED's are a lot brighter. I have only seen one set on an ls in person and they are on Leo's car, which are the ones 02v8sport got from umnitza. I think he received a lot of rings until he found a size that fit, but they were from umnitza, the company thats make the led andrizzle and I have. They look clean but they are not as bright as my LED. Also, they are more of a 4300k-5000k look and the LED I have are like a 6000k color. You really can't imaging how bright the LED rings really are until you turn one on expecting it too be bright, only to be BLINDED by them since they are 2 from you. It scared me when I first tested them right when I got them with my little battery jump starter.

GO LED you wont regret it

Only way to be sure is to be the guinea pig. Doesn't sound like this ebay brands been tried.

I agree the LED rings we have are very bright... It doesnt look too bright in pics maybe, but when i first turned them on I was almost pissed they were too bright! haha

But they worked out well, they can be seen in 100% sun on them, and @ night when you have your headlights on you can still see them.

+1 they aren't expensive to try them out, but I guarantee that once you go umnitza LED you wont go CCFL, just like once go HID you wont go back to Halogen.

Me too. I was scared I would cut my headlight open and do all that work and have the rings be too bright and look out of place or tacky, but they are perfect.

You can always send a pair to me and I'll take pictures side by side of LED vs the ebay ones, place on the benzels. I will be doing someone's gen2 lights soon, the rings he bought already arrived, just waiting on the headlights.

no disrespect to your thread..but will Gen 1 headlights fit a Gen 2? If so i think it would save one who doesnt have the skill and or time to cut their lights open..just curious

Could you measure the rings you have? I might try these out.
1-They are $49
2-I have a Gen1

No they will not, not same size or shape. Gen1 hi and low bowls are similar in size and not full circles. Gen2 has a large low beam bowl that is not a full circle and a small hi beam bowl that is a perfect circle.

Just measured.

The big/low-beam ring has an inner diameter of 4 5/8 inches and an outer diameter of 5 1/4 inches. Remember though that the low beam bowl is not a perfect circle. The top part opens up more, that is why I stretched mine apart to fit the bowl right.

The small/hi-beam has an inner diameter of 3.5 inches, outer diameter of 4 1/8 inches.

Oh sorry. I didn't see you had a gen1. Dont know the measurement on those. I have rings for a gen2 headlight
