I have the front of my car on ramps to change to oil as we speak and went to put the drain plug back in the pan...

Is there a nylon washer/gasket for the oil drain plug?

I didn't even think to look whern I took it off and now either can't find it, or am just going senile thinking there is one there. The manual shows one, but I don't recall seeing it...
Thanks,
J.

There would have been an off-white nylon washer. You could probably make a gasket out of a rubber sheet or something if need be for now. There is no pressure behind that bolt after all.

Crap, I've looked all over and in the drain pan and can't find it. :(
I'll leave it up on stands till tomorrow and go pick one up then. I don't feel like draining the oil again to switch a gasket...
Thanks for the help :)

lol, mine drips very slightly and was also wondering if there was a gasket for the plug. Guess i found my answer.

i have removed then in the past with nothing on them. yet i have also taken some out that have had copper washers behind them too, so who knows lol. most have a white nylon washer, but if the surface of the hole opening is clean, and the back of the bolt head is clean, it wont leak even with no washer.

I went and swam through the drain pan again wrist deep! I checked the floor of the garage all over where I brought the plug in to get a rag to wipe it off... I can't find it anywhere. I don't think there was one on it...
...and here I was all happy that I didn't get a single drop of oil on me or the car while doing this!

It's always the simple things that get 'ya. I guess this will teach me to pay more attention next time.

Mine does not have a nylon washer on it & it has never leaked a drop. I guess it just seals itself pretty well.

Mine didnt have one when I got it, I use a very thin nylon washer, just to be safe. My 95 had a quick release valve - that was sweet.

I never found it, nor do I think there was one there.
I stopped by Ford to be sure and they said the same as y'all, it may have one, it may not...
They showed me a replacement drain plug and it has a rubber oring in a channel on it. I bought it to be sure and all is well now :)
