Ugh, this car is starting to piss me off!

NM, just checked the service manual and it says if the leak is between the tube and the nut then the line needs to be replaced. It seems to be leaking there and not between the nut and the pump so I guess I get to buy more parts! :wrench

If you look at the plug on my power steering pump that is exactly how the wires were exposed on the VSS plug. I wrapped a piece of tape around each side after cleaning them with throttle cleaner and then wrapped both together after they were insulated from each other. Its not pretty but it will work and is a whole lot easier then replacing the the whole wire harness or trying to locate another plug and splice it in.

You can see on my pump where the pressure line goes in that its leaking between the nut and the line so that means I have to buy a whole new line. Guess I will call Maxx tomorrow.

Well the VSS was the problem.... only it wasnt the problem. :p

When I took off the old one it was a little wet with trans fluid. It was readily apparent the o-ring on the old VSS was cracked and leaking a very minute ammount. The last 1" of exposed wire no longer has a jacket on it and the wires were touching, guess the heat and trans fluid ate the wire jacket where it was not protected by the wire loom.

Hmmm this sounds familiar

Check the trans harness. If your's was like mine, it was oil soaked and was shorted out. Caused all kinda issues, check trans, gear data error, no shift, steering wheel and seat moving without warning while driving, dead speedo, check engine light.

Just jerkin your chain :)
I am just glad you found the harness issue. You may have to get under there and remove the old loom and re insulate all the wires and put it back in a loom

Well in my idiotic defense when I went under there to look I didn't see the exposed wires cause they were filthy so they looked like they still had their jacket on them. Wasn't until I had the plug in my hand that I saw the actual issue. I pealed the loom back till the end of the exposed wire and cleaned then off and taped them up. In the future I may get the initiative to cut the harness down and cut out the wires and find some new plugs and do it the semi correct way. Should last a few years the way I did it though. Its not perfect but since I don't have new plugs I couldn't think of a better way.
I am open to ideas from anyone though.

definitely looks to be leaking between the nut and line (theres a small o-ring in there) ford says you can get the line out but ive tried every quick disconnect too and have never had any luck getting it off or ANYONE else. and as for the teflon seal i stretch it out a little w/two small screwdrivers enough to start half of it on the nut then put your thumb nail in the thread and spin it on and all the way on.

You're not an idiot, it was just overlooked. Happens to the best of us. It's always some small issue with these cars. :)
