when your sitting at a light, hold the brake and lightly start to press down on the gas until the rpm goes up to around 4500 - when the light turns green, press down alittle harder on the gas, but not to the floor. watch how quick these LS' take off, i have the v8, but for a big car, its quick!!:D

There is no possible way to footbrake the LS to 4500rpm's unless your transmission is slipping or something..

Yea, I know all about powerbraking, but I have a V6 which doesn't spin the tires no matter how hard you try unless it is wet out. Since it won't spin the tires the rev limiter does kick in and still won't let it rev past 3000. I have tried more than once and always come to the same conclusion.

LJ not to call you out or anything but stock stall is 2200, thats all it should get up to while foot braking, thats why I upgraded mine to the 3000..

lol, 2500, 2200, it was all the same to me, first time i actually tried this, i guess its called 2 step, or brake boosting? makes a difference on take off, i thought if i kept playing with it, i could get it up to 3000, i guess it only goes so high? imma check it again today, i just was amazed with how quick it took off, rather then just the regular take off.

what if you had the e brake on and reved it? could you get it pass 3000, and then release the ebrake?

You do relize that when you slammed the throttle that far down your not gaining anything right? The best spot for the throttle on the LS is around a 1/8 to 1/4 on the throttle or else your not going anywhere fast but the next gas station.

Its called foot-braking, brake boosting is on turbo cars, you lightly hit the brake and gas while rolling and it builds some boost, a 2-step is type of rev-limiter..

The stock converter will only allow it to go so far (2200)

Im not sure about the e-brake thing, I wouldnt try it..

E-brake line locks are for front wheel drive cars. What hell are you gunna do with a RWD and the e-brake on?

Line locks were built originally for RWD cars not FWD. They were used in muscle cars for power braking, just flip the switch and brakes off.

When you step on the brake and step on the gas we always called those line locks. I know that there is a line lock for drag cars, but thats what we called it when people with not so powerful cars tried to show off.

Now, since the braking power is in the front, kids with FWD cars use the e-brake instead.

ok so i did this some more tonite, yeah, i didnt see it go past 2500 stopped, now, when i rev it to like 2500 and press on the gas hard, i guess the tires just spin, the traction light comes on and i dont move, :( haha i guess it has to be perfect, like maybe around 1900rpm then punch it,

First things first, turn off the TC.

Then step on it just enough to get it to drop into first while in SST and let it rip to about 1/4 throttle.

How ever I really dont promote doing this in a LS.;) :p

LJ if we meet up before it gets too cold out Ill let you take my LS for a spin so you can know the difference lol

yeah the whole power braking is great in all.... but when i was at the track i was only doing it at like 1500 and it greatly helps my reaction timing all it reall does is tighten up the drive train. great method but to do it at the peak rev limiter is just callin out for unessicary problems

Lincoln Jealous, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish but the Space Shuttle has the best take off of all time!

I don't think the E brake thing would work, especially in a 2nd Gen.. if you have the brake on and touch the gas, it automatically releases.
