Trunk Lid Dimensions

i went outside to check it out. it clicks twice when i hit the button. and the lid doesn't move at all. i checked all the seals and they look fine. i think your right about the latch needing grease. its snowing pretty good so i didn't look at it that long. would some spray lube work?

so i don't have to start my own thread, when i hit the trunk button on my remote, all i hear is the latch release the trunk lid. then you can open it. every other car i owned, the trunk would open like 2-3 inches. this just sits there and looks at you...

Take off the carpet on the trunk lid, and try it again. The damn thing wants to fly off the car when you press the trunk button!

You live in NJ or PA? I swear here in NJ where I live it was like 50+ outside so I called in for a day off to work on my car and now its snowing like a b*tch outside.

there are torsion(sp?) bars on each side of the trunk (the "springs" that force the trunk open) each side has two notches the top one is more force opening the trunk, and the bottom one is less force. when i bought my car they where both in the lower position, i moved them both to the top position and now my trunk flys open like a james bond ejector seat

If they are the clips like the ones holding on the engine cover just push the center in with your finger as far as you can. Then you can just grab it and pull it out.

I used to live outside of Philly, in Berwyn. I loved it when they cancelled school becuase we didn't get snow. They had already put chains on the bus tires and didn't feel like taking them off when the snow didn't show up.

They arent.

You just gotta wedge something under them and pry them off. Maybe even a needle nose. If needs be just replace them, they are cheap. I rarely ever mess around with those things but when I do I just make sure I have a few on hand to put in place.

+1 the trunk ones are just the simple push in and pull out type, always make sure you have a few extra, because some will either break or some of the ridges that hold them in will come off and they wont hold nice and tight, or you just lose a few

Yes, but they won't be the same OEM ones. They will work though.

They are identical. Just look at the section with all the nuts/bolts/retainers and what not. You'll find packs of them. Even hardware stores have identical ones. All they are, are vinyl plugs.

Cool, thanks for that info! Mine are in the lower position now and it opens pretty fast, maybe if I'm feeling daring I'll move it to the top notch

I looked last night and I actually have one in the lower spot and one in the upper spot.

Well, the deed is done! Got the new trunk and it is the right color and in flawless condition. Transported it back home using my trusty old Cavalier. Yes, it fits

Also got the LS back. I finally have heat @ idle (it's getting COLD again here in IA), the horn and foglights work. If you need any work done at a dealership, I recommend Stivers in DSM - 5% service/parts discount and they threw in an extra key, remote and front license plate holder for free.

That's no joke! I've done that before while changing tail light bulbs. It opend so fast and hard I thought the trunk lid was going to come off the hinges.
