Transmission Filter

Quick question. The part number for 1993-1995 transmission filter is different than 1996-1998 Mark VIIIs. I think this is because of a different pan? Are they both interchangeable? Is there a difference between replacing a trans filter/fluid in the earlier mark viiis since the tech article here also suggest that (applies only to 1996-1998 mark viii)?

The 96 and later have a deep sump pan. The filter also goes deeper... You can upgrade to the 96+ Pam and filter, or use 93-95 original parts.
