trans won't shift

Ok, so i go look at another mark last night.....95, red on black. I go to take the car down the street and it won't shift out of first gear, whether I feather it, rhomp it, blip it, nothing..i turn around and head back to the guy's house, this time I drop it in 1 and shift it manually and it shifts, anyone have this problem? is it a simple fix or does the car have a wasted trans??

Since it's easy, take your MLPS off and put it on his just to see if that changes anything, unless you have an extra one setting around. Just an idea.
 
oh yea def, I'm not telling him if i can fix it......not sure if i'll be getting it.....he wants close to 1500....i shot him a generous offer of $400, he didn't bite, but he'll be calling :) I just wasn't sure if it was an easy fix or if the trans was wasted....i'll have to try that.

KK is right. The trans may be shot but you say you can shift manually. Could be a number of things keeping it from shifting in auto. You can always snag another trans for $150 to $250 and put it in.
 
buy the car and i'll sell you a 98 trans i have thats perfect needs nothing, re-pin the harness and drop it in, i'll sell it for $150

Can't beat that deal rich. Mine was $250.00 delivered to the door and the 98 trans is what you want. All parts have been updated. Why they waited for the last year making the Mark, idk but it's the one to get.
