Trans or Rear end problem?

Any whining I have ever hear of was usually the valve body but one thing you NEVER want to do with one of these transmissions is manually shift, especially driving it around in 1st. My 94 would whine while at idle in neutral and I know that was my valve body. My TC was also shot to hell.

Yeah I never manually shift because I know it will later on screw it up. I guess ill have to take a look at the valve body and go from there. I dont know how im going to be able to tell if its good or not. Id throw my stock one back in but i already sold it a while back. When I did the work to my trans I did throw a "uhaul" pan i got from Max on. When I did that I also went and got the different trans filter with the long neck because of the sump in the pan.

I have had a 93, 94 and now a 95. I had the 93 in first and heard the whine and the 94 also had the whine in first but it had it in neutral too. I have never driven the 95 with it down in first because so far, that transmission is perfect besides needing a J-Mod done to it.

The deep pan and long neck filter is a plus. You can take a look at the valve body and maybe find something loose but not really sure. When you remove the pan, let it drip for a while and then get under there and wipe it down with an old towel or something and then check all bolts to see if they are tight. It all could be something as simple as a TCC solenoid or the line pressure solenoid. if it's the TC, go ahead and read about the experiences on here with rebuilt TC's. If Maxx has an OEM reman, I would go with that before any aftermarket stuff. You want the new friction material. It's thicker and made of better materials. It could be in your clutches and if it's all in there, may as well do the whole trans swap to the 98+
