Hey everybody, quick question,I'm getting ready to do a filter change on the trans in my '98 lsc and was wondering if there is any particular brand of trans fluid you guy's recomend over the others. It's a stock trans with over 160,000 miles on it,still shifts, and runs fine just time for a filter and fluid change and I'd like to use what works the best. Thanks

Just make sure its Merc V. I use whatever brand the store I am in has.

Be sure to also drain the Torque converter and cooler as junks can accumulate there as well. It should take close to 14 Qts to re-fill. Also make sure you get a re-usable gasket with your filter. The quality sets include them, that's why they cost a little more rhan the rest.

i went to the parts guy at the local Lincoln dealer and he sold me Motorcraft Mercon V for 12 bucks a gallon. I brought my own container and he rang it up as bulk. he just walked back to a 55 gal drum and pumped it full. you will need almost 3 gallons for your fluid change.
