For the ones that have them are you running it through the radiator still? Inlet through radiator done through external cooler then back? Or just straight through the external one?

i used to run it through the radiator as well, but now i just run it standalone as the radiator cooler started leaking.

"over-cooling" is possible, so don't run a giant cooler stand alone without a thermostat.

So a standard tube and fin of maybe a 24k gvw cooler I guess. Like one from trans cool or some crap like that?

Like this?

you want a "stacked plate" cooler.

not a "finned tube" cooler.

the stacked plate is more efficient.
run it after the cooler in the radiator, so attach it through the top rad cooler line.
and it shouldn't be an issue.

you should get a 40k if you run a stall converter, but a 24k cooler is probably alright for a stock trans. i think that's the size i have.

Also no stall stock stall but temps do get crazy here in so-cal. And I'm positive it has a shift kit on it thing barks 2nd with no hesitation in drive at wide open.

yep. that one is about the size that i have.
run that in line with the factory cooler and it should be fine.

Ok buddy thanks I've had coolers before but idk if helped at all. And not sure if it be better to run through radiator as well or not.

I've been wanting to put in a trans cooler for some time for that reason, my radiator leaks trans fluid by the fitting. Do you have a thermostat in place and where exactly would it go?

no i don't run a thermostat at this time as my cooler is relatively small and missouri doesn't see excessively cold temps.

and they are run on the hoses between the cooler and the trans. its a bypass. so it returns the cold fluid til it warms, then lets the warm fluid run through the radiator.
