I just wanted to let everyone (especially the haters) know i traded my ls. I appreciate the help that people gave to me when i was having problems with it. A word of advice when people are needing help, just help them or dont post. A lot of people that posted were useless and irritating. These cars have way to many problems that happen to 99% of them at some point that they are not reliable. Ford should have used a 4.6 at the least. Not the 3.9 I understand one, maybe 2 things that a certain model has go wrong with them but 5-6 things? no thanks. degas bottle, coils, chain tensioners all the electronic problems etc etc. Anyway, thank you to all that helped me figure out what was wrong with my ls, to everyone that posted to be an a-hole, go to hell.:D

Des Moines? I was just out there for work last week. Stayed at the Renaissance down town. Actually saw a silver Gen 1 in the public garage. That was about the only exciting thing except for some burgers and beers at the High Life Lounge. :D

What did ya wind up getting?

traded for a mustang.

If it is a new 5.0 please disregard but I found this and could not help myself. However, if it is a V-6 let me know so I can find something worse.

The new V6 mustangs push more horses than our V8's do.

Hate to see you leave. You weren't here very long. You didn't post anything about yourself. Not even a single picture of your LS. Good luck. Hope you have better luck with your new car.:)

Yeah I know, they new models are real absolute beasts. When they first came out Motor Trend stated that the V6 models were the most efficient per horsepower engines in mass production.

I am just giving this guy a hard time.

This thread completely contradicts what you posted. There is zero value in anything you just said ...all useless and irritating.

Just because you were dumb enough to purchase some POS LS, doesn't make them all unreliable. But considering you only owned it for a month, you really have zero room to talk.

Hey, but thanks for letting everyone know that the guy that was here for almost a whole two months and posted 11 times is gone.... Enjoy the 96 mustang, with your ability to purchase cars, Im sure its amazing.

Post of the year nomination.

if you look at my previous posts and see what people said g-rell, you will see what i consider useless and irritating. its my fault i didnt do more research on what kind of car the ls is. i have even been seeing them for sale afterwards with a desciption of " all the normal ls bugs and problems have been fixed" these cars have A LOT of specific problems that 99% of them have or will have. Like i said, i appreciate the help people gave, but not the bull:q:q:q:q. There is no reason for it. I bought the car in feb and put 4,000 miles on it in that time. I replaced 3 coils "sorry, i wasnt trying to be cheap with not buying 8" maybe if i had your money g-rell, i could spend the 400 dollars and do them all  a water pump, thermostat, window motors and regulators, water in the rear lights etc. I wasnt going to wait for the very very common chain tensioner problem to arise. You have to admit, there is a lot of stuff that goes wrong with these cars. thats why i traded it. I didnt add any pictures of the car or a description for the simple fact, that i felt that most people that posted were just :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs in the very beginning. Anyway, the mustang i traded for is a 1993 5.0 with 20k less miles. ohv is a lot more reliable than ohc dohc etc. especially the 3.9 ltr in the ls and thunderbird. no offense to anyone, but those engines might as well be boat anchors. i will admit they are fun to drive and look great, but when, not if problems arise, bend over and get your wallet out. which, im sure most of you including g-rell know that.:D

K, bye

$400 dollars?!?!? You have got to be kidding me
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JZWHK2/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00

If you can't handle that then maybe you shouldn't be buying cars. Hell if you can't $185 with shipping for some coils do you think you are going to have a cheap problem free life with a 1993 Mustang?

Hell if you exaggerate that hard on the price of coils then for all I know you just bought a 1997 Mercury Cougar with 185k on it.

It's not hard man, within a month of buying my 06 LS I had to replace all the coils because one went bad, the plugs, and both front end bushings, the starter. Now I need a degas bottle. All cars will have issues, even some of the cars I've owned before have a bulletproof reputation for relibilty I've spent lots of money fixing up all the time. Cough 1995 Jeep Cherokee Cough

It's going to happen. Deal with it, don't piss on the car. Especially to then and turn around and buy something 19 years old.

Hopefully I just typed that out for no reason and you never come back though.

Well I must be a total frigin idiot because I knew about the "common" LS problems and STILL bought one. I have never owned a car that didn't need something done to it, especially a used car. I paid $9500 for mine in September of 2010 with 48k on it. One new wheel bearing, new front brakes, new tires, new coils and the VCGs done by a dealership under warranty. About $1600 out of my pocket and I still love this car. It may not be the absolute best at anything but with the mix of power, handling, luxury and fun, it's been my favorite car I've ever purchased.

Why, so the over $500 plastic intake can crack in it... You know nothing about the 4.6 liter Ford engines.
Good luck with the head gasket, fuel pump, starter, MAF, IAC, spark plugs blowing out on the Mustang.

EDIT: and i mean spark plugs literary blowing out of their location

OK, the first post was pretty dumb, but I can't agree with these replies. Owners (like malibu) have every right to bitch about common problems in the LS that other makes and models have miraculously figured out how to avoid. Just because you're okay with dumping money on things that really shouldn't be breaking on a modern car doesn't mean everyone is.

Its not like there isn't enough information out there about the problems this car has. If you aren't willing to take the risk go buy a toyota. For those of us who don't care, we buy LS'. He lost his right to complain about it. This isn't a brand new car that we are discovering problems on. There is at the very least 6 years worth of knowledge about what this car has trouble with. People like malibu are ridiculous to think that you could but any 6 year old or older car not have a potential problems immediately. I bought a Land Rover Discovery before that ran 2 of the 9 months I owned it. I didn't blame anyone else for not helping me fix my problems. I fixed them and sold the car and didn't complain about it.

Yes there are "common" problems between models... as any make or models will have. Most COP's last 50K+ (depending on what you buy), thats not a huge deal... the others, all depend on the car and care... I've never had a failed Degas bottle, Timing chain tensioner, and the only electrical failure was a loose connection in the fuel pump sender, hardly a failure... Some have had more problems (agreed), but any vehicle specific forum will be full of the same problems...

Just because you're okay with dumping money on things that really shouldn't be breaking on a modern car doesn't mean everyone is.

... his car was 12 years old with 134000miles on it, when HE bought it

A. thats far from a modern car
B. who knows how it was cared for before then
... PLUS, he also bought the first year of production... Thats a risk you take when you want to save money... Every car ever produced (to an extent) had issues that they resolved after the first year... The LS's changes are well documented...

Are they the cheapest car in the world to maintain, No. Is it the worst ever, far from it

I don't have an LS, but you really traded such a nice car for a 19 y/o fox? I would love to get an LS, I've seen a ton of threads about the common problems LS's have and I'd still buy one. Idc if you have a 30 year old car or something brand new, if you buy it with a lot of mileage there's going to be issues. And it doesn't matter if that 19 y/o fox you bought has less than 20k, it's probably been sitting and a lot of things are probably dried up. I own a mark viii which yes they have more power than LS's but the LS's are way more modern and i think look good stock and modified. Just my .02
