Naw. That was offered in the ub3r l33t package together with Mr. Fusion88 is fast enough if you have the flux capacitor option. (Not sure if it was standard on the 06 model).
yea idk about 158.....although i did do 159 one time in a 99 trans am....159 is when the top speed limited kicks in....but that was a car with some mods and aerodymanice....not to mention about another 100hp...but that car struggled after 150....so 158...idk
On a 45 degree or so morning at 3am last Febuary with no wind North of Charlotte on I77 I saw a GPS verifed 152 mph. The speedo was pegged. I backed out at that point. Pulled fairly good to 145 took a while after that. There might have been another few mph left but it was good enough for me. That was on a fresh set of plugs, new fuel filter, good gas, all new synthetics (motor, trans and rear end) and getting aggressive with the timing on ILLS Track Tune.
Ok, and you have what i would consider a fairly modified LS and a 2nd gen. I keep hearing about GPS speed verifications. Are GPS really that accurate when used in cars? Never used one personally. And you raise a point with one of my issues in that from 145 to 152 it took a while and i'm sure alot of road. I guess the 45 degrees also played a role. This guy is making this claim a few weeks ago and its fairly warm this time of year, i'm sure alot warmer than 45 degrees.
Maybe i'm wrong but i dont see the LS as a super aerodynamic car, especially at 100+ mph. I see the drag at those speeds a real obstacle.
Yeah as far as 158mph in that kids car? I don't buy it. He very well could have been doing 140+ though if he has a Gen1 sport or a good tune, which would scare me to death if I were him and doing it in traffic too? Considering the state of tune the vast majority of cars on the road are in, those are potentially lethal speeds. Think about tire or parts failures! Just reinforces my opinion that 95% or more of the people on the road do not have the ability to safely control or understand the vehicles they own even at normal speeds. Probably watched "Fast and Furious" a few too many times.
My run was under pretty close to perfect conditions, car and weather. Might be a little more in her with narrower tires, lowering and a homemade splitter and rear diffuser, maybe a partial belly pan. It wouldn't be much though, wouldn't be as streetable and how often would you get to find out anyways? Who cares....it's my daily driver, not a dedicated track car.
