Took it to the track

huh.... i thought once you dialed for the day, it was done. God I love this site! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I usually dial 2 tenths slower than I can consistantly run for the day and play off the other guy

SANDBAGGER!!!

I promise that if you tried that at any track around here, you wont get past round 1.

We eat sandbaggers for lunch.

consider this, how can you "fender race" a car that cut a .020 light and ran .01-.02 off it's dial.

That gives you .021-.022 in front of their car to "fender race".

I can assure you that there is no way you can accurately "judge" .02

Also coupled with the fact that on my car there is a "large overhang" on the front of the car.. so while your up there "fender racing" the front of my car.. the wheels which are futher back are what is going to "trip the beams" at the finish line.

The distance from the front of my front tire, to the front bumper is more than .02.. so if you try to "fender race" an experienced bracket racer.. he will "push you out the back door" 9.999 times out of 10.

I LOVE absolutely LOVE sandbaggers.. they taste just like chicken.

when someone runs out in front of my and starts "fender racing" I always shake my finger at them in a "no no, you cant do that" manner and always shake my head in a "told ya so" fashion when the win light burns brightly in my lane.

The KEY to bracket racing.. is "cutting a good light" and "running your number".

"dialing down" only works.. IF your oppoent cuts a crappy light and or "cant run his number".. otherwise.. if you get in front of them.. you lose.

I dont depend on my opponent to "do anything".

I dial my car thinking that my oppoent is gonna go "triple O on the tree and DEAD ON at the stripe".

That's the only real way to win consistantly in a bracket race.

pic isn't very clear.. but that's 55 or so trophies..

many were donated by a sandbagger or two.

(lol)

be the benefit of others reading

.2 or 2 tenths is roughly 2 car lengths at the finish line

The "MOV" or Margin of Victory at most of our bracket races are .0001 - .002

Here is the formula for determining the amount of feet, inches or fractions of an inch these races are won and lost by.

copied from this page
http://www.draglist.com/stories/SOD Apr 2002/SOD-042202.htm

To figure out the approximate distance in a margin of victory, you need to start with two things: the margin of victory in seconds and the LOSER’s trap speed. The winner's speed doesn't matter. You need to know the loser's trap speed because what we are really measuring is how many feet the LOSER has to travel for those .0003 seconds after the winner hits the finish line.

For the purposes of this demo, let's assume the loser was running exactly 120 mph.

You need to convert this to Feet Per Second. The way to do this is to take the MPH and multiply it by 1.4666666 (infinity). Using 1.466 is probably close enough for this purpose.

So, 120 mph equals 175.999 feet per second. Let's just say it's 176 Feet Per second.

Now you simply take the true margin of victory (in this case, .0003 seconds) and multiply it by the Feet Per Second. At 176 FPS, this turns out to be .0528 feet.

If you get something less than one foot, which we did here, you need to convert to inches, so take .0528 and multiply it by 12.

In this case, the margin of victory is less than an inch! In fact, it's .633 inches! For those of you who are better with fractions, take .633 times 16 (to convert to 16ths of an inch). You get 10/16s, or 5/8s.

SO... the front wheels of the losing car in this Super Stock match were FIVE EIGHTHs of an inch behind the front wheels of the winning car!

yeah last time I ran brackets was an import thing our here. They drive hondas....they dont care about racing! LOL Since that W, I've gotten rid of the import and worked on my 60's. 9 out of 10 i dont even look at et's. I'm planning on running the SSHS in atlanta in nov....... back to brackets it is

yeah last time I ran brackets was an import thing our heres

we run at the "import vs domestic" bracket races everytime we find them.

Last one we ran at had 75 imports and 90 or so domestics.

in round 3 there "were no more imports" left and I had to run against a camaro!
HAHA

I made it to the final 4 cars in that race. (semi final round) and won 100.00

I race em heads up.... cocky little bastards dont expect too much from my "grandpa car" lol

that's classic...

Consider this though...

we race against lightning pick ups in the brackets..
my dial would be almost exactly 2.2 seconds slower than theirs.

my 60 foots were right at or just below 2.2

SO.. my Grandmas Car only get a 60 feet headstart from the ALL MIGHTLY lightning pick up?

it was strange that I'd launch the car.. and right at or before the 60 foot clocks here comes the Lightning Blower Whine!

and it takes them either 660 feet to reel in that 60 foot headstart.

HAHA
