Tire sizes

Looking for some new shoes for my 2000 LS V-8 Sport and trying to decide if I should go with the stock 235/50/17 or what? Rolling stock rims.

I don't want to break the bank but wouldn't mind going a little wider.

Post what you run if its 'beyond' stock size PLEASE.
 
245/45 is a common size. Though a simple search would've yielded that answer. They are cheaper too.
 
Yep, 245-45-17 is all you can do... If your not lowered, the fender gap will look worse. Share how you use your car (4 seasons? spirited driving?... etc) and we may even be able to recommend a certain brand/model.
 
How about some all season tires?...I'm in need of some new tires & could use some tips on some. Running the same size 245/45/17

I have Fuzion HRi's and can't complain for cheap all seasons. I believe they were around $90 each + install.
 
I didn't notice any change in road noise switching from Firestone Firehawks to them.
 
Continental extreme contact DWS are very highly rated. If you have little or no snow in your area, I really like my extreme contact DW (summer version). For a more spirited driving style all season tire (and sacrifice some wet performance), I'd go with BFGoodrich supersport a/s. They frequently have discounts on them at tirerack. I think they got rated poorly but I guess such is the case when you let ignorant people vote! Very stiff sidewalls for great handling but not that great wear rate (because you like to torture them haha).
 
245/45-17 Eagle GTs. I had them put on right before our big snow storm that dropped like 5 inches of wet heavy snow right around the end of February and they did just fine. I ended up getting 2 at Sears and 2 at a tire shop due to what they had in stock. Sears was $373 out the door for 2 tires and the tire shop was $343 out the door for the other 2 tires.
 
Someone on here put Continental ExtremeContact DW 255/45/17's on without issues. I believe the ride-height was stock through.
 
Thanks for all the replies. The only other size besides stock I had seen mentioned was the 245/45/17 for stock rims but thought I'd ask.

My car is stock height, driven 'spirited' I guess you can say... I live in Florida so there is no snow but lots of rainy days in the summer. Wet handling is important because people drive like jag-azzes here.

I was on TireRack for an hour last night and the Continental ExtremeContact were one of the ones that had great ratings and a reasonable price tag. As of now, that is probably what I will go with.
 
Thanks for the advice, ordered the 245/45/17 Continental ExtremeContact DW -- got them for $568 shipped to me from Discount Tire Direct. Tried to order them from TireRack but they had this verified by visa thing on their site and I couldn't remember my 9,000,000 char password that I use twice a year so I gave up.

Hoping to get them installed this coming week, they should arrive on Tues.
