I know some of you are going to laugh at me and say "What the hell is snow?"

But I drive my Mark daily to keep the mustang out of the winter, BUT I would like to throw a gear in the Mark to get it to get up and go quicker, I was thinking 373. But the real question is, have any of you driven a Mark Viii with a trac-loc in the snow?

I have driven my stang in the snow and it wasnt fun, sideways the whole time regardless... And even though my Mark has an open carrier, it will go sideways just about the whole time too....

so the cars seem to act similar under certain conditions... so have any of you had real world experience with this? Or should I ask the T-bird guys? :D

In kansas we have pretty good winters. From experience My mark as is goes good in the snow if I keep my foot out of it and make it go its not an issue. Now I will say this though, when I put the posi rearend in my truck it went in the snow and mud 10 times better. So if you lock both back wheels together and lose the one wheel wonder it will most likely go better. you also have to remember that the mark has traction control in the mark and the stang doesnt.

well... traction assist... not control, lol, if only...

But yeah, I see your point, I'd love to do it, I'd just hate to lose that winter ability... and yeah I know I shouldnt be hopping up the daily, but as you can see from my sig I have car ADD and can't help it...

My mark is also my daily driver and until I brought home that old ugly culass and the s10 it was my familys only car.

Snow tires are the key. They are cheap and the car becomes much more sure footed than an AWD Explorer. Learned that one years ago from the Mustang crowd. If they had to drive during the winter the guys having no problems were all running Bliztracks (sp?) during snow months.

Snow tires are critical. Cheaping out and using all-season's isn't going to help you at all.

Our Mark runs dedicated snows, and it's damn near unstoppable. It's stock though.

My lowered Cougar w/4.30's and posi, about 300hp also ran the last 2 winters (it's becoming a beater), also runs on dedicated - but worn down - winter tires. It's a better car to drive than most FWD's, and those with all-season-only tires.

So go for it, put in the trac-loc with 3.73's. Do put FOUR winter tires on it. Learn to feather in the throttle when taking off, and you'll still blow everything else away, leaving all the retards in FWD's spinning away with their all-seasons gaping at you :D.

I run on all seasons with 4.10s and a trac lok. I think the stall helps some as you can ease into power easier but the car does fine for a rwd car on all seasons. Better then it did stock.

Yeah I thought about trying to find some cougar or T-bird wheels and throw some Blizzaks on there. If I can find some real cheap.

I used to drive my '77 Mustang II in the snow, I would keep up with huge 4x4 Excursions! I would drive that car and see FWD's 4X4's and everything else off the road...

I ran my VII with 4.10's in it all winter and never had a problem with true snow tires on it. Between the tires and the remote starter, my car was one of the few that we could even use at times :)
I only put in in the ditch once, and that was me being stupid and taking a run at the unplowed driveway and ending up across the road when I got out!

I went into the ditch RIGHT ACROSS from my own driveway last winter... I hit the brakes and left it went! This was before I realized the front suspension was wore out causing it to pull left.

trac loc will only help in the winter IMO and good tires you will be fine
the only car I had problems with was my 86 Fox mustang with Z rated tires I
only had it in the snow to move it from one garage stall to the next
