so exiting out of on ramps on to the highway I give it gas and I get no response from the engine it holds the rpm at about 1,200 and dose nothing. but today it did something different it was holding at 1,200 and then it decided to bog down to about 900 rpm then it engaged and began creeping on the highway, as that was going on the engine almost died on me, then it bounced back to life and took off??????? WTF is going on it almost seems like something is not communicating with the engine. I will go to Advanced Auto to check for codes at lunch.

Actually it sounds like it is trans related, possibly the shift Solenoid.. I could be off but if it did not shift or started in a gear that was much higher, i would think it can cause the system to bog or stall,, BTW, last fluid check/Flush? may even be TC if it balloned it may not be sending proper fluid pressure to trans.
Just somethings to think of.. TC can ballon if you run stock, and run really high RPM's for long time. OVER 6.5K I think for any extended period of time.. how long I dont know but pretty sure they are only designed for like possibly 7K then ballon up.

I put new fluid in when I J modded it, that was about a year ago, but it wasn't a flush just topped it back off. I have only ever came close to 6,000 rpm very few times, never running it a high rpm for an extended period of time. The thing that bugs me the most is that it ONLY happens when getting ready to merge with traffic on the highway after exiting the on ramp, even at the race track, road course, it shifted perfectly fine

then the only other thing I could think it would be is a vacumm leak at the TB check the vacumm hose of the TB and see if its rotted.. maybe you'll get lucky.. it is a GEN 1 or 2?
 
Is your traction control on or off?

The only reason I ask is because something similar has happened to my '97 LSC a couple of times. Each time, the TC light came on and the engine bogged terribly. Turned off the TC and no more bogging. If I remember correctly, the GEN2's have all-speed traction control and if the computer senses even the tiniest bit of rear wheel slip, the TC kicks in and applies the brakes to the slipping wheel and retards engine timing, causing what feels like a severe bog. Just a thought.
 
the traction control is on, but I never seen the light come on. It's not like traction control bog. I press the pedal and nothing, no revs. I wonder if it could be the TPS wiring, I had to extend that maybe the connection is loose??? but then again it would be doing that all the time, maybe
 
Ah. If you had to extend the wires and splice something, I would recheck that. It may be a loose connection and the reason for the intermittent malfunction is that the wires only come loose once in a while. Recheck that wire and solder it next time. Just to be sure.

The TPS can cause some problems with the transmission. Did you check the tps?
Also did you smell the tranny fluid?
