So I found my mystery fuse that kept popping. Finally got my oem repair manual. Things pretty nice, thicker than our phonebook here. Its the #2 fuse. And suggestions on where to start. I'm not even positive what a thermactor is.

what year is your car, 96-98's have a thermactor pump in the lower left front corner behind the bumper, its a secondary smog pump pushes air into the exhaust when first started. your pump is probably seized and causing the fuse to blow upon starting. i dont know if you can just unplug it and leave it alone, but if you cant, i have a bunch of thermactor pumps if you want to replace it i'll sell you one. this is what it looks like.

You can unplug it and leave it, it is not a monitored system. It only starts and runs when the engine is first started or cold. It runs till the engine comes off the start fuel enrichment cycle and is there to reduce emisions when the engine is on start enrichment. In cold weather it might cycle for 2 to 3 minutes if the engine is warm less then 10 seconds.

Ok I have to correct myself it is a monitored system both at the pump and the O2 sensors, it takes 4 full drive cycles to set a CEL.

thanks guys. I'm going to try to just unplug it. Jamie, when you say front left corner, you mean driverside? 96 is the year.

yes, under the marker light, behind the side of the bumper cover, take the drivers wheel off and pull out the black inner wheel well and you'll be able to access it.

Cool, too bad it snowed today. Should be pretty easy, I didnt screw the wheel well liner back in from when I replaced the abs module cuz I figured I'd have to get back in there.
