got 2 hairline cracks on my beloved jaguar rims today...i immediately tried to commit suicide so the tire guy had to restrain me along with 16 other workers in the shop. needless to say ill be checkin the area for shops that can repair the rims. my question is...is it worth it since.... i dunno for what reason...ive been led to believe that most of the time rim repairs are only temporary.

Haha. I lol'd.

I'd say it is worth it if you're willing to pay.

I love your car.

you could always get one of those Ebay replica's as they are much cheaper than the real deal.

The real question is why did they crack? It shouldn't be easy feat to crack them.

You were going to commit suicide over a wheel? Man, I hope you were kidding... Else, you have some serious issues...

if you were serious about that question ( im pretty sure u werent...hope not) then i'd say you are the one with serious issues... :D

those are the ones i have....problem is they are only available as a set of four for 700.

thanks....i think its only like 80 bucks to fix em...not too much

thats what i was sayin...with all the unavoidable (without crashing into a divider or car in the next lane of course) pot holes that ive hit going like 60 mph...or even the ones in the city, i wudnt even kno when the damage was done. my guess is that one of the super extra hard ones weakened it to the point where the next bump caused the hairline crack in the rim.

Your better off just to replace em..

sure gimme 700 dollars.

Just pull the trigger

i think thats what im going to have to do.

my roomate hit a pot hole doing 60mph in a mercury mountaineer and cracked 2 rims. 22" giovannas with 35 series tires dont do well with pot holes. the rims are not even close to fixable. the DOT paid for the 2 rims, 2 tires, 2 balljoints and an alignment. i talked to a local wheelshop and they said once a wheel is cracked you can weld it but the chances are slim that it will last. i am a welder and i know the welding process overheats the metal and makes it more brittle. welding on forged metals is very difficult and cast metals are next to impossible to weld. i'm sure there are welders out there capable but not many

Oh, I have plenty of issues... But none of them make me want to commit suicide, over a cracked wheel... And none of my issues would make me tell the world I wanted to commit suicide, to the point where 16 men had to restrain me, over a cracked wheel.

well the cracks are really really small....nuttin major i think its just a big enough crack to let air seap out overnight. hopefully they stair repaired...otherwise i dont know what im gonna do lol

if you were joking, a good indication would be a LOL or HAHA following the statement, or else ANYONE can take it serious, especially on a webste where emotions aren't attached

my question to you is...why so serious? come on are guys kidding me its like i woke up in the twilight zone where no one could see that i was jokin lol. i didnt think one would be necessary given how extreme of a reaction i gave to a cracked rim. i mean....angel got it....seems to be about the only one who did .

you are a stranger to ppl whom do overreact to such trivial things and whom DO hurt others or themselves...... have you seen all them shooting, murders, or killings due to trivial things...or road rage?

I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer.

But as it's been mentioned before, we do have emoticons that portray such thing as sarcasm. As the Internet is not quite grown up enough to deliver feelings to an end user (in our case, a reader), these emoticons assist the reader in understanding when someone is being sarcastic or funny. Such emoticons are missing from your original post.

As I don't know you, don't know your sense of humor, nor your real life mental state, I went with what I read and understood. There are many examples of people posting death and suicide threats on the Internet, only to be taken in jest by their colleagues, friends and readers. Then said people end up being shocked at the events that unfold once said person carries out the act in real life, because "we thought he was kidding!".

I hear the new EXOnet will be able to deliver full emotional content to the end user, but that's a good 20-30 years away.

If you were kidding (as you are now indicating) then you fail at tEH funny.
Now, back to your wheel problem. Don't take those the wrong way, but what do you expect for $700 for 4 wheels? Minimum DOT requirements for wheel strength, that's what one should expect for that price.

I'm not saying that your wheels are crap, by any means. But they are cheap, Chinese replicas. Sorry.

Aside from the "status" factor, there is a reason why expensive wheels are expensive.

Either way, good luck with the wheel repairs. I hope the repairs last, but I wouldn't count on it. Pray youdont have a wheel disintegrate at 70mph. It's not pretty. Then you'll be shopping for a new wheel, new suspension parts, new underwear and maybe a new driver's side seat.
