My biggest complaints are the dragging safety chains and wire... as well as the fact that the trailer isn't level. This is obviously someone that knows nothing about towing, and the kind fellows at U-Haul... like always... don't seem to care.
In case anyone wants to tow and isn't aware (ALL of this is VERY important safety concerns!):
-Chains should be loose, but not dragging; attached in a cross manner.
-Harness plug should be loose enough to permit un-strained turning, but not dragging (and ensure the lights work!!).
-Trailer should sit level; this will likely require a drop or lift hitch (or adjustable)
-When loading a trailer, the tongue weight should be between 10-15% of the gross trailer weight.
-Never exceed the load capacity of the hitch or vehicle.
-If the tow vehicle has the slightest problem staying in OD, DO NOT allow it to keep searching for a gear, turn off OD!!
-THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING ONLY; especially if you have a trailer, you SHOULD NOT be driving in the left lane!
THANKS!
(PS, I assume most of you who tow already know this... it's just all of the above make me wish I was in a hummer cruising up highway 1 in Iraq and I could just have my gunner perforate Mr. Stupid Driver's engine block.)
