The LS's winter replacement

Nice! I like the old tinkerbell :D

And the "fix" on the jimmy.

I'm getting the itch to start modding my truck. First things first, I gotta get rid of the quadrajunk.

For dependability go edelbrock. You already have lift it looks like so you're that far. Do you know what axles are under it and do you know what t-case. If you have any old chevy truck ?'s I've got the answers and all of my knowledge is trial and error learnt. I've done mud racin and daily drivin with that truck and learnt alot the hard way in the middle of nowhere.

Also if you look closely at one of those tire pics there is a nickel in the tread to show you the depth.

yeah I was steering towards an edelbrock 600. I believe that I would need a new intake mani too.

Nope. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure. I never pulled the qj. But Ive also never owned a carbureted vehicle before, so maybe it's quite obvious and I just didn't notice.

EDIT: Just sent a text to my brother inlaw, who's helping me get the truck in running order. HE says yes, it's a 4 barrel.

I would say 70-60% left on'em. And if you have a four barrel at the most you will need a 15$ adapter plate.

picked it up a couple days ago. It's... Spartan.... To say it best. No radio, the dash vents are missing (still have defrost/floor heat though), and the floor pan on the driver's side? I can see the ground underneath, through an area a little less than the surface area of a dollar bill. But, after some vcg's, and a new rear u-joint, and a couple misc. Seals, she'll be road worthy. Found it on craigslist for $750.

Now i won't care if someone else slams into me in their nice lincoln :d

nice beater, good price, easy repair!

On the carb, you can't beat a good quadrajet that's set up right, but getting one set up right is a huge problem. Even in the 70s it was hard to find someone who knew what they were doing, now it would be impossible. For just a bit more than the cost of a new Edeljunk carb, you can pick up a standalone TBI injection system. Some of them are pretty advanced now, can handle racing as well as daily driver duty, and even self-program.

I've had several of those trucks and they are absolutely unstoppable. My wife hit a deer running across the road flat across the front going 55MPH, spun out and came to a stop on top of an orange construction barrel (not speeding, no workers present). The only thing I had to do was scrape some melted orange plastic off a muffler, and wash blood and hair out of the grill.

Not sure why this thread was bumped but.....if you still have a floorboard problem nothing fixes that quite as well as a stolen speed limit sign.:shifty:
