So I drive the LS once and a while in the winter, even though I have the winter beater. So on the way to work this morning, I decided to stop at the coin DIY wash bay to use the pressure washer to get the grime/salt off the car before I hand wash it this afternoon when I get home.

I only use the "rinse" feature, as I don't trust the soaps, and there is no way in hell I would ever grab the brush of death. But this works nice to get rid of the majority of stuff, since I use a rinseless wash in the garage during the winter months.

Anyways, I'm spraying off the car, specifically the rear of the trunk. I always maintain a safe distance with the pressure washer wand, to not concentrate the pressure to any one area too much. Well, part of the rear surround started flaking off after going over it with the pressure washer. Damnit. Now I gotta get it repainted.

Not a real big deal, but whatever. then I ran out of time on machine because I spent too much time looking at it, and had to pump another $2 in quarters in to finish spraying the car off, lol.

Here's the damage:

I was thinking this was gunna be a wreck thread.

A beige sharpie should do the trick!

That sucks.. I use to use the DIY power wash thing too but I stopped. But honestly the other day it was like 40 out here and nice and dry so I also did wash my car too.
Just a tip, trying to help but sand it down nicely before you paint it again.. id honestly chip off the rest that is ready to break so you dont have to repeat yourself. Just a pointer but I'm sure you know what to do!
BTW you anywhere near Rochester? Have family there..

I'm in northern MN. Rochester is way south of me.

and yeah, I know about paint prep. I had the body shop do it. They didn't prep the surface properly, but they also only charged me $100.

Pektel,
if you sprayed the damned numbers off the license place you def had the wand close enough to blast off the crappy ford paint.
(JK)

lol. It was more than crappy ford paint. It was crappy prep by the body shop. I didn't count on painted chrome lasting for all too long anyways. They did the work for dirt cheap, and cash under the table, so I'm not expecting anything to be fixed for free. Hell, I couldn't buy tri coat supplies for a hundred bucks.

where the hell are all you guys i have never seen a diy wash around where i live, either that or i must b retarded and blind, although, it might not be hard to determine which of the two i am, being that i drive an ls....

shoot, some of the newer ones here take debit cards too. no more 1's and quarters. They have full blow dryers, and machinces that spray out different color tire gels.

where the hell are all you guys i have never seen a diy wash around where i live,..

where do you live in Houston?
lol

at the corner of Rankin Rd and Kuykendal there is a coin op.
there are several.. all over town that I know of and use from time to time.

where ya at?

This place near me wants $800.00 for repainting both front and rear bumpers, the "ground effects" or lower valances? and ww 3 piece spoiler and a front grille.. But they do guarantee their work from peeling and chipping.

My front bumper doesn't really need it, but it does have some rock chips etc and would be nice to get that cleaned up.

I'd really like an 06 bumper... but I just don't think its worth the money yet. I have to keep some change sitting around for when Pektel sells me his wheels. :D

lol. buy me a set of 19" coventry hornets and maybe I'll trade :shifty:

I believe they run about 1500/set. with tires. can't remember right now though. It's been quite a while since I priced them out.

Yea I liked those more, but your example pic was chrome so I thought you were making a turn for the worse :-P
