What does everybody think about this?
Bryan, take pictures - I want to do a count of old white guys in the crowd...
Do they not count, do you only count paid, minority protesters organized by ACORN?
Or are you just looking for a sugar daddy?
Santelli wasn't an original voice when he gave his off-the-cuff rant on CNBC. Personally, I think the "tea party" association, while easy to cling to actually hurts the message, making it easier for you Progressives to dismiss and ridicule.Just curious - Rick Santelli sort of called for it - and it seems to be gaining momentum with old white guys... checking out 'turn-out' with how it compares to where the Republican party might be heading - since Newt seems to be interested in holding the reins again.

But most importantly, the Tea Parties ARE NOT Republican events.
Unless you're saying that common sense, love of country, and adherence to the constitution are purely "Republican" traits. There are Democrats who embrace these things, and there are certainly Republicans in government who clearly don't appear to.
These events are not partisan.
Unless you make more than $250K / year, you would be an idiot and hypocrite for going to one.
Which do you consider yourself?I have graduated to progressive? What happened to my Marxist nomer?
Santelli certainly got the most attention and very well have stimulated the movement's imagery- but he wasn't the first person to use that imagery. It's a pretty common used, and misused, image.I basically first heard these protests from Santelli – the ‘Tea Party’ reference. I don’t know who would have been calling for them before, sorry, wasn’t interested enough to go back further.
Some organizers have lists, the vast majority don't.I know it isn’t a ‘Republican’ event or issue, I didn’t say it was in my post. I said I would like to compare the turn out at these ‘tea parties’ and then look at upcoming events/calls to action that the Republican party sponsors in the future (where they are heading). I wonder if they will buy the lists that the organizers have?
I actually think the Democrats are watching these events far more closely, hence the increased efforts to ridicule and dismiss the events- and according to some reports, disrupt.I do think that the Republican party is watching these events closely – they need new voters, and these events would be a good place to start. Disgruntled people.
I used Newt – because, if that is where the party is going to remain – old white guys, it would be interesting to see if the demos at the protests are matching up to a Republican party that would be faced by Newt. If the protests are largely white males or even white females over 45, then, Newt would have a better chance of appealing to those people, and the party might be interested in using him again.
Tea parties are interesting, but they're just protests. Protests generally don't accomplish jack. No offense to those going. I'm sort of glad to see people getting pissed off for a change.

Who says they are for sale.
Dems are watching too – I think both sides are watching closely – different reasons – but both sides are watching. If the Republicans aren’t watching, and acting on this, well, let’s just say it isn’t surprising they lost last time. Hopefully they have learned some lessons, and are actively looking at how they can exploit this.I actually think the Democrats are watching these events far more closely, hence the increased efforts to ridicule and dismiss the events- and according to some reports, disrupt.
If the country is going to remain, these protests, and better organized and conceptualized ones in the future, need to appeal to constitutionally minded loyal Americans across party lines. It has nothing to do with the Republican party.
So you're a progressive marxist who prefers to be called a "liberal art tart?"I don’t particularly like labels – Liberal Art Tart is the one I use when pushed.
That's a lot of speculation on your part.Everything has a price . But, most of the organizing for the ‘tea parties’ seems to have been on the internet – I would imagine there are pretty decent email lists that could be bartered…
Hopefully, no one exploits it- they merely learn from it.Dems are watching too – I think both sides are watching closely – different reasons – but both sides are watching. So should the Democrats.Once again – I didn’t say that these protests had anything to do with the Republican party – I am saying that the party should perhaps look at this as a place to get some ideas on where they could be headed in the future.
To hell with the party. These protests could be a good way to start doing something to repairing the country. These protests could be a good way to start doing some rebuilding for the party.

Welcome back Cal, I hope your move was uneventful, and things are better!

Yeah, whatever.I used Newt – because, if that is where the party is going to remain – old white guys
Exactly what is the point of the Jabba picture? Did you just make that up?So Bryan - did you end up going? I guess Denver's got about 5,000 to show up -
So, what is next - to do anything 'real' the protesters do need to get political... A new political party- or a strong arm segment within a party (sort of like the Christian Coalition in the Republican Party)?
Foss - Wow I just found out that Jabba the Hut was a Republican - well, I guess I have to expand old white guys to include old fat alien guys...
I strongly disagree, in my eyes it's not at all about how much money i make. Please, explain yourself...
