sway bar bushings

Exactly.

I would call Max to confirm first, but I'm going to give the poly bushings one last chance here.

If the collars help, and I can then tighten the bushings down, I should be good.

Can someone else with the Energy bushings lift up their car and see if the sway bar is off center? I'd like to know this isn't isolated to just me :)

I peeked at mine yesterday from under the hood. There was about 1/4 inch more space between the end of the "hump" thats built onto the bar and the inside edge of the drivers side bushing than there was space between end of the hump thats built onto the bar and the inside edge of the passenger side swaybar bushing.

Never noticed that before.

Replaced my old red energy suspension bushings from two years ago (started knocking again this summer) with black energy suspension bushings last weekend.

So far so good. If it starts knocking again though, Im probably going to take it to the dealer and have them do it right: replace with the upgraded swaybar with bushings built in. Estimate I got for that job at the local ford dealership was $750+ parts and labor

What's the labour difference between changing the sway bar out for a new one or just swapping the bushings out on a 02 ls? Isn't it the same.

Are you absolutely certain those are swaybar bushings/brackets?

Looks like when you click on "10) Stabilizer Bar" and "11) Bushings" you get the same price. That would lead one to believe its the Stabilizer/Swar Bar with both bushings (might be the new attached version). Might need #12 for the Bracket(s) too.

For roughly $110 if you can get a new bar and bushings, and if it lasts 50K to 100K miles... sounds like a good deal.

I did the ES sway bar bushings and there was 1/4" to 1/2" of gap on each side before the molded stop... hopefully it self centers.

Wish there was a better option for the bushings... but if the stock one above would work, seems like a cheap fix. Labor might be about the same... given it's a couple more nuts to remove the sway bar links etc...

Max would be able to explain what you get for the part(s) listed above...

You are probably looking at another 1/2 hour to hour of labor to get the whole bar out.

Depends how greedy your shop is.

On a side note, I still havent installed the sway bar collars.

There is an 01 taurus taking up my whole garage right now....

Was doing struts for a coworker, and we broke the heads off of both pinch bolts (pinch the collar that holds the strut to the spindle) despite using plenty of heat, penetrating grease, and working the bolt back and forth.

Bolt extractor didnt work, and even using several different sizes of cobalt drill bits wouldnt do the trick. I got a nice 1/4" pilot hole drilled out, then got half way thru the bolt with the 7/16" bit and it just wouldnt go any further.

So then I had to pull the spindles off the car and take them to a shop to have them drilled out.

Ugh. Damn Taurus.
