I am looking into getting a new fuel pump for my gen 2 mark. I did some searching on the forum and some guys are using the focus pumps and some are using the walbro pumps. The focus pumps are pricey even from rock auto. I talked to maxx and he even said guys are using the walbro pumps. What walbro pump would i need??

You would need the round walbro fuel pump.

Now, as to which round one you should get? I've always gone with the 255 Liter per hour, High pressure ones.

I do believe, if my memory serves me correct they were the GSS 341... or were they the 342's.... Damn it, now I can't remember.

I have Walbro, would get SVT next time. Havent had any issues but for some reason I am convinced the SVT is better....... just a tard I guess.

Frog hurt his brain :-( old man

I have one of each. The only reason for the SVT unit is for a high performance setup, otherwise you can go with the Walboro 185LPH which is more than adequate for a stock setup. If you do decide to go with a high output pump you should keep an eye on your fuel pressure regulator as it is no unheard of them starting to leak (especially older units).

Focus pump is what I would get but ONLY if I had engine mods. Kinda useless without something that needs the extra fuel pumped to it. A 190 LPH would be sufficient.

Laser on the other hand and others with 350 or more HP would benefit from a 255 Walbro or Focus pump. If you're gonna stay mostly stock, IMO, I wouldn't go over 190 LPH

Thank you for all the info guys. I plan on some light mods (tune, cold air, deleted mufflers ect) and maybe a cobra intake down the road. It's got the 3:27 gears from the factory and I am happy with them as I do a lot of highway driving. I just got myself a 93 driveshaft that I wanted to put in while the tank is down for the pump. I can get a walbro unit from a local guy for around 100 bucks. He asked me if I wanted the gss342 or gss340??? which one is the correct one for my 98??

Beware the cheap knock off "alternative" Walbro pumps on eBay. They're not Walbro, they're chinese junk:

YouTube - Real Walbro vs Fake Walbro

Real Walbros have a shinier finish (than the fakes) with a W stamped into the side (though there are now fakes with the Walbro markings.)
