Ball joints, sway bars, oh my.

Its always one thing after another with this car...

New rear upper control arms coming tomorrow.

Ball joint on the driver's side is toast, clunks like hell through left hand turns, and the passenger side's boot is torn.

Should be fun.

Going to tackle both on friday.

Anybody got any tips before I begin?

Also, I have been in contact with a company in Cali that does custom headlights.
I've spoken with them through work a few times as they were looking for LEDs for one of their G37 projects. I've been an application engineer for Newark Electronics for 2 years now, and speak with many interesting companies, but this was the first who I thought would be of interest to our community.

Link below is the company info on the Nissan 370Z fan-site.

They seem to do good work. We've been discussing a full LS headlight with projectors and angel eyes, as well as custom marker/turn lighting. Possibly a half-way decent example of LED tail lights as well.

Once we have a few designs drawn up, I will post the ideas and contact info for MRWorks.

Be safe when working under the car.

Would be cool if something with the lights actually went through. I would be interested, but alot of times these 'theory mods' are talked about and never executed.

One of my headlights has clearcoat peeling off of it or whatever and it looks like ass unless it is clean. I am about done with my headlights as theyre pissing me off, I fucked them up when doing the angel eyes, and one of them is nearly brand new looking and the other is original. I probably need to wetsand them, just finding time/laziness.

Keep us posted!

looks interesting...

chances are, if you've been driving with no grease in that joint, its shot.

my rear upper has now gone beyond the clunking phase, and is into the just straight up wobbling and focking up my ride on the highway... The arms did get in, gotta go pick em up tomorrow.

On a second note, how many of you have gone from euro shocks to sport shocks? I have done a bit of research and found that the Euro shocks are no longer available from Ford, and the shocks need replacing.

I'm considering doing the Eibachs as well when I swap the shocks.

And a third (and last) question...

Has anyone attempted to swap calipers for the Jaguar S-type R Brembo calipers?

I would assume swapping steering knuckles would be all that is necessary (along with minimum 18" wheels).
I was looking around the local yards out here in cleveland, and one of our premium yards has a wrecked 06 whose front end appears to be in working order.

Just picked up some new nuts for the bushing bolts and the ball joint (and a case of beer) so wish me luck :)

rear upper arms are in. Ran out of room on the lower hex portion of the ball joint stud on the drivers side, so the sawzall came out... took it out on the highway, and still have a front end shimmy/vibration. Checked front suspension, found a bit of play in the driver side upper control arm (both lower joints have been replaced recently)

So 2 new upper control arms will be coming soon. this job also looks much easier, as there is considerably more room to work with on the front end.
