suspension questions

<--- unemployed monkey

Deff, please post of pic of the bolt you are having problems with, the bolt in the uca at spindle is the upper ball joint, you may need a ball joint seperator to get it loose
but there's no reason to take the uca loose from the spindle unless you are replacing the spindle or the uca
you said you're installing shocks and struts..the UCA does not need to be removed...
Look at my thread on the 93 please, there's plenty of suspension pics there

how do you post pics, im an idiot. but the instructions that i got with the conversion kit said to take this bolt out. right now the new strut is about an inch away from fitting if anyone has any other ideas im all ears :)

this is the best pic i can come up with. but the instructions that i got with the conversion kit said to take this bolt out. right now the new strut is about an inch away from fitting if anyone has any other ideas im all ears :)
Not seeing the bolt in that red x picture.

I would assume that you have the weight of the spindle supported by something.... anything?

Just out of curiosity, where are you hitting that bolt at?
I have removed them on only 5 cars and every one popped right out with a single tap to the end of the bolt.

Time to give it up and unbolt the UCA from the k-member

Seriously, the car is gonna need an alignment and IDK what the issue is with the ball joint bolt so you may as well just unbolt the UCA and get it back together so you can bring it in for an alignment. When you put the UCA bolts back in just be sure to have them as close as possiable to the way you took them off. I took pics last time I did it just to be certain.

what size are the UCA bolts on the inside of the wheel well. just had another thought could i possibly use a spring compressor to get that extra inch to squeeze them in there

You do know you actually unbolt them from the engine bay on the nut side right? The bolts have a tab on them to keep them from coming loose. Thats the 18 mm side.

Who wants some strained carrots!? Thats a good boy.
*makes airplane sounds as spoon approaches mouth*

Gawd im such an ass. :wrench

.............wait the shock is in the car it just wont reach the lower arm...................put a jack under the lower arm and lift it, hell you should be able to lift it by hand and put the lower bolt in and put the upper nut back on and drive away
