I replaced my steering rack last weekend from some manufacture cv unlimited now i have creaks and poppong noises all over the place.Do steering racks make those types of noises?Everthing on my suspension is about two weeks old i replaced lca.strutrod bushings, tie rods, and sway bar links all with high quality parts.Im familiar with ball joint sounds but its kinda crazy how if it was both sides would go out at one time as soon as i changed the rack.Does anyone know if dorman parts are any good i used them for the lca's.I put my hand on the tie rods while my friend turned the wheel i definately feel the creak.I then put my hand underneath the ball joints and dont feel anything.

Grease up the outer tie rods and see if that fixes things.

Done that already but I don't know if I had the right grease it said multi purpose

I had a creak that turned into a squeak so loud I was scared to drive fearing one of my steering u-joints would go! (I have a custom steering shaft). It was most felt at the steering wheel. Ruled out clock-spring.

Anyway I actually found out it was the rack boot. There is a rubber seal on teh rack right where the shaft attaches. I lifted it up and put some NASA grade high temp grease under it - all gone.

As for popping, tie rods as mentioned or re-secure the rack bolts. They need massive amounts of torque - nothing you can get with regular tools.

To me it sounds like eaither the tie rods are bad or the inner tie rods are not lubed. Eaither that or the rack is deffective.
I had a bad ball joint that would only make the noise when turning and really didnt "feel" like it was it when I had the car in the air trying to find the noise. I was certain it was the tie rod so I bought a new one. Turned out the 1 year old passenger side ball joint (lower) went bad. Swapped it outand its been silent since then. :D
