stupid or not stupid...plus id like to hear your ideas...

I believe there is another article that calls-out that ls as a fake - the electric turbo never actually makes boost and therefore - no performance improvement.

On the Gen1 LS - if you simply boost the stock manifold like that (in front of the throttle body - you would be messing up the whole air-assist injectors, and if you ever closed the TB while the turbo was making boost - it would have pressurized the valve covers since there is no PCV valve just hoses running open from the intake to the valve covers.

As far as I'm concerned the only way to know if this will work is to build it and try it out. I'd like to see what happens. How are the rest of us supposed to know what modifications to make if someone doesn't go through the trouble of trying it out first?

In other words; thanks to all of you for being my guinea pig. I greatly appreciate it :D

^^^^^^^^^^lmao!

I think this can be done, but i question the actual performance gain. I think it would definitely be cool. You might be able to make a thin sheet metal box that comes down infront of the radiator and then routes the air to where you want to put the box with the cone. That would let you pull air from the grill before it hits the radiator and still not hack up your hood

NHS, Thats exactly what i meant, if u look at my diagram theres a box around the filter, the bottom would be filled in aswell to keep hot air from the rad fan out.

not quite what I meant. I meant build a rectangular duct from IN FRONT on the radiator up and over the rad into the box you were talking about

oh alright, yea i also had that idea. im not sure how it would work with the hood latch though.

if it ever stops raining, I'll try some card board mock ups. Its a good thing I eat pizza more than anyone ever should! I use those boxes for everything

well i just took my grill off for a better look, i started out putting different lenght sockets on the radiator support and then shutting the hood. that turned out 100% negative lol.

If you pop your hood and look behind the grill at your catalyst sticker. notice the contour of it. that section of the hood actually shuts 100% onto the radiator support. so stock, theres no way for air to get up and over the radiator and into the top of the engine bay.

but i noticed that with a dremel and a cut off wheel, it would be VERY easy to cut a section out of the underside of the hood on one or even both sides of the hood latch. build your ducts to catch air from the grill, and your golden. the problem is actually cutting away at the underside of the hood.

it can certainly be done. and atleast this route there would be no changes to the exterior of the car. the problem is making it look good. i dont think a true ram air would be possible, but on the plus side, you would deffinetly be getting more air, and also cooler air then any previous setup ive seen.

im actually ready to start cutting the only thing that worries me is if theres enough room to succesfully carry air from the grill opening which is a little lower then the top of the rad support, up over the radiator support, and still clear the hood which sits pretty low.

Don't the 2000 up Corvettes have something like this set in them?
