strut brace

so this weeks project is a custom made strut brace. Now i know there is a brace across the back but I'm looking to get some functionality of real one. Anyone tried this before? If anything it'll look sick its all polished aluminum, I'll post picks of what i have so far tomorrow.

Also coming up i bought some caliper paint up at summit racing...

I also want to try and clean the engine bay so it looks less cluttered organization is key to me.

I have a hard time seeing that, let alone getting it to fit, in the LS.. It will look cool but there is a lot of crap in the way..

Quik......did you order or fabricate? If fabricated, what did you use / how did you do it?

the stock cross-brace is triangulated to the firewall so it does the work.

The one I made - I ordered a few cross-braces off e-bay - re-drilled the shock-tower mounts to fit the LS, and then cut and bent the brace to fit.

IIRC - I used the combination of (don't hold me to it - it's been years):
93-96 Mazda RX7 RX-7 Front Strut Brace Bar
93-96 Mitsubishi Mirage Front Strut Brace Bar

yep - that's it.

I was having a understeer condition show up under fast entry, hard braking - where the front would slide - so not really an understeer but more of an induced frontend slide. the splitter and canards were an attempt to plant the outside front rubber harder into the road. I worked... but I have actually tore the stablizer rods from the plastic bumper several times...

The Lotus has actual solid mounts for the splitter, so I'm able to generate much higher downforces with it.

yep - the one on e-bay is it. I upgrade by rods to 'round' ones - no reason than I think they look better.
