I just did Stone17's headlights tonight. They turned out pretty good me thinks.

all finished.

Here is what I used:

cleaned headlights
secured first headlight
wetsanded with 1500 grit sandpaper
wetsanded with 2000 grit sandpaper
cleaned headlight again
used an electric buffer and buffed with ultra cutting creme
used an electric buffer and buffed with swirl remover
used a wax applicator and applied a hand polish
cleaned headlight
repeated above steps for other headlight
boxed up for shipping

total process took probably about 25 minutes. not long at all.

I would recommend waxing over the top of them also, I just didn't have any (cant have that stuff in the body shop)

Very nice job. Did you use anything to seal them? I just bought Turtle Wax Headlight Lens Restorer kit to do mine. Mine are not distorted or discolored, but they P/O had left a couple of Florida bug :q:q:q:q on the lens which I can not get off, so I figured I would use this kit to help me clean them up.

all that headlight restoring crap is a waste of money, all you need is some wet sand paper, and some mequiars ultimate compound.

looks good, waxing does help to keep them from yellowing

Looks great mang!

Raped, the Turtle stuff sux. I have that kit and after using it I went back and had to use my other chemicals and buffer to correct the lights.
Like Jamie said, sandpaper and polish. Screw the kits.

your probably right, I have not used it yet. But I tried using wax and compound and a rotary buffer and the bug guts on 2 seperate spots is not coming off. So I may try it again with the Meguiars. I did not know about the wet sand effort, may try that also. But after the wet sand and polish, what is being used to seal them back up?

nice, i just did this to my 95. but they didnt come out as nice as those... but they where close.

i just wet sanded and polished with no sealer and its still fine after a year. I usually do it once a year rather it needs it or not..Takes about 15 min per light by hand. You're arms can get tired though.

Little business tip if I may?

Don't tell a paying customer how long it took you to complete a job, more-so if it didn't take you long at all. ;)

he wasnt a paying customer. i dont mind doing a favor for a fellow member.
