alright guys, ive finally picked up a new headunit for my LSC, my stock in dash cd player died on me....LONG TIME AGO.......ive never installed a single stereo in my life (and im a UTI graduate
), so heres what ive got so far........
Headunit:
Kenwood DPX501 - its a double din unit, nothing fancy, if i wanna watch movies, i got my DVD player at home, ill ask for directions if i have too.....just want to drive with my tunes going.......anyway.....
1. the opening on the dash needs to be opened up about 1/4" (maybe less) more on top in order for the unit to slide in, how did you double din guys do it? pics would help, i dont wanna hack away all crazy........
2. wiring, i dont wanna cut up the wiring harness, yet......just trying to keep it as simple as possible for now......from Scosche's web site i got the FDK8B as the harness i need, is this all im gonna need? shows 3 harnesses, two for the wiring to the radio and a bypass for the amp, right?
3. the instruction manual (yeah, i read it, since its not running yet....
lol ) says i can shut off the internal amp on the headunit......could this mean i can turn off the internal amp and use the JBL amp in the back?
probably wont know till i try it.......
for some reason i feel changing my timing cover on my VIII was easier than doing a stereo on it........... hehe
