I've been thinking about getting rid of my Avic D3 and going back to stock. I really want to keep the subs tho. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you tap the sub signal off the deck instead of the amp then you will get around all the harmonics issues generated inside the JBL amp. Also use a high quality Scosche hi/lo convertor so that you dont lose the lower octaves. You should be able to tap the remote turn on from an ingition wire cause the factory decks trigger is only like 5 volts. Some amps can use it, some cant.

As for what wires are what, I always cheat and get a wire harness adapter. I only use it to see what wires are what then return the harness after I am done.

Honestly, I would never go back to stock. What would be the purpose? If what you have sounds good and looks good, leave well enough alone but that's just my "suggestion"

I threw all of my stock stuff away and it all worked. Nothing but garbage and that's where it went. Deck, amp, speakers all in the can. I might still have the amp out there in the garage but if so, it will never go back in the car again. If I ever sell the car (which I never will), the three 10's and 1000W Kicker amp would come out but I'll replace the 4 channel that's in there and leave the current Kenwood eXcelon with built in bluetooth and microphone hidden up on the visor. I think it would make it more valuable by a few hundred. (IF I SOLD)

Now if you have problems with break in's, then I could see the purpose but just to be switching back for no reason, I don't understand it.

I really wanted D3 unit. But I park the car on the street at my girls place sometimes and with animals living here in NYC I know it will take just a few days before someone breaks the window, destroys the dash and rips the unit out.

Honestly I'm just getting tired of reprogramming the presets and sound settings every time I drive the car from the battery always being disconnected. Not to mention the nav system is absolutely worthless, plus I like the look of the factory better. It gives it more of the original unmolested look.

I'm not completely sold on going this route yet, but I have been tossing the idea around.

My only real obsticle is the cd player issue, the car has a cd changer in the trunk and it def will not work with the subs that are back there. I'm not sure if the factory cd player will even read my burned cd's. No need for an ipod jack since I don't have an ipod lol.

lol, I have an iPod touch and the jack on the back of the eXcelon but it's still wrapped up behind the deck just as it came from the factory. I haven't even tried it out yet.

Maybe you should sell the deck you have now for something different, cheaper, easier to reset, without all the functions of the current deck you have now except RCA pre-outs. Now, why are you disconnecting the battery all the time? I must have missed that novel in here somewhere.

That's most likely the route ill go, although the oem would b nice. Hell I may even just leave alone. Lol

The battery gets disconnected so it doesn't get drained becuase it sits 360 days a year. I put less than 800mi on it last year, although this coming year will be more like 4k+ mi.

I can understand you wanting to dump the D-3

I have a f90bt, not a big fan of the Nav, or the voice recognition.

The SD slot is nice, it will support 32 GB cards which is great, also a USB connect, the best features IMHO.
Kills the need for any CDs

If I was looking, I would go with a HU that has HD....SD slot, maybe a USB.

Stock stuff is old, out dated.

i'm using a "pac" trunk-lok for mine..Hooked up right before the amp. no noise issues w/ the sub but if i put my ear right up to the tweeters i get alittle bit of noise. Again only if i put my ear right up to it...I love it..

1 more thing is w/ my setup i was getting a delayed amp turn off thump from the subs..I simply ran the remote to a switched 12v in the fuse panel. Fixed it. I would not hesitate doing this in any car for now on.

I have a indash cd so thats nice. But i got a fm modulator hooked up behind the deck with a wire feeding to my mp3 player...That could solve ur cd changer issue..The modulator cost me 35 bucks..Comes with all the wires so all ull need is a mp3 player.
