Just something I had kicking through my head, just wanted to see if anybody else ever thought of it or tried it. my 2001 LS has a very similar steering wheels to an old 02 Explorer I had. It also has the same climate control as the old explorer. The explorer steering wheels had controls for the AC system on it, would it be possible to swap one of those into the LS without too much headache?

The real question is would you be able to hook up the A/C controls, because if you can't the swap is usless.

I do like having the HVAC controls on the steering wheel of my '02 Mountaineer. However, there would be no provisions in the Lincoln for those buttons to work.

Exactly. You might get the wheel to fit, but the climate buttons on it wouldn't do anything.

I think that the S-Type had voice control of the climate control.

Thats more of what my question would be. I wouldn't know if the harness that the Explorer could be used seeing as its probably the same climate control system.

It's not the same climate control system by a long shot.

Whats up with all the steering wheel swap questions lately?

I have a steering wheel from 00-02 Jaguar S-type in my LS, with Jag airbag. It fits very well with a little trimming on the back of the steering wheel from inside. The wood color is a little off, the airbag has leather on it and the whole wheel feels much better quality than the LS', also it has those "handle grips" at 10 and 2 o'clock. The airbag connector is the same so is the part number of the airbag.

I looked at different steering wheels from different Jaguars, the new ones have different center bore, the newer S-type R steering wheel might work but the airbag has different connectors i think.

The gen II steering wheel with wood is extremely nice...much better than gen I and should be a perfect swap.
