Is this an issue where my sway bar bushings are wearing out? When i turn the wheel left or right(mainly left), it makes a very unpleasant squealing noise? Bushings?

either power-steering pump or rack and pinion. Have a friend turn the wheel for you when you're under the hood listening for the sound. My guess without looking would be your pump. I can tell you without a doubt that a squeal when turning your wheel is NOT bushings of any sorts. (sway bar bushings would tend to be a bit of a squeak when your suspension is traversing up and down; squeak, not squeal for bushings.)

Could be a bad ball joint. Get the car on some jack stands, have someone turn the wheel each direction while you're under there and see where it's coming from.

I pretty much heard the sound from the drivers side and i THINK the ball joints are attached to the lower control arm and aren't sold separately. UMMMMMMMMMMM...I'll go back out in a second and see what I come up with. If you guys know of anything else, please don't hesitate to tell me=]

Man it sounds like something needs to be lubed up or something. I doesn't make the noise the whole turn, more like every half turn i guess.(Don't know if that makes sense.) Sounds like a creaking door or something. Any clues?

is it coming from the actual steering wheel? ive had this problem w/ my 03 and under warranty i had my steering rack replaced.

2003 & 2004 has a TSB 04-10-1: Steering wheel squeak at low speed parking maneuvers.

Action: Additive of Motorcraft Friction Modifier with Motorcraft Mercon ATF added to the power steering reservoir.

take it to a suspension shop. a creeking door seems to be more of a sqeak than squeal. irrelivent though... could be a ball joint if it's only coming from one side.

I think it might the power steering pump. I was sitting in the PopEyes drive thru and it all of a sudden started squealing. I'd turn the wheel and it'd stop for a second then start back up. I out it in park and it completely stopped. Help!!:(

Might be a bushing issue. Been reading about it in a few posts. SOOOOOO....do the 2000 Lincoln LS Sport PKG have to be cut off or what? New to this.

Does it make the squawking all the time or just when you first start your car? Mine does that....sound like the power steering pump is starving for fluid then after a few minutes it's fine. Figured it's the pump, and just waiting for it to go out.

whoops.... someone feels a bit retarded...

I'll blame it on missing lunch!

I understand it was posted in Dec I was searching th threads, saw this post and wanted to know what he found out sounds like I might have the same problem. I didn't want to start a new thread about something already posted....

no prob... dec isn't that long ago... I just confused myself! It happens sometimes due to lack of sleep, food and things to otherwise keep my mind active.

i had similur problem with my 2001 v8 when i turned my wheel it sounded like a creaking door it was so loud you could here it a st. over from me always made people look at me every where i went lol it even made then noise going over bumps. well it lasted for about 2 weeks then it just stoped and hasnt done it in a month

Most likely it's the ball joint. Place some weight by pushing down on either front fender and if it squeaks.. it's probably the ball joint. Right now my passenger ball joint is bad and it's doing the same type of noise. Sounds like a muffled door creeking sound from a scary movie. *L*

Oh yeah, get the problem fixed as soon as you can for safety reasons. Last thanksgiving my ball joint went out completely & the front driver wheel popped off. Luckily I was going about 10 mph. Felt like my tire had busted and my car hit the pavement with a big thud! I'm hoping to get my other one fixed up soon. :)
