Spring function - Curious.

What the heck is the purpose of those springs on the sides of the front seat tracks?
If you unhook them, the seats work exactly the same.

Sure, they will assist the motor in going forward, but going back they work against the motor.

Just one of those little things i was always curious about.

It probably has to do with it beign easier for the seat to go back with you in it so they added springs to help it go forward?
